Cannot connect to the SXR30 router; primary WiFi is not working
Hi, Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong support group.
The primary WiFi on the SXR30 stopped working (Can't get an IP address). The Guest WiFi still works. But I need to use the primary WiFi. So my goal is to log into the device and reconfigure the primary WiFi network.
Here is what I have done -- nothing worked so far:
- Rebooted to Modem and restarted the SXR30 router.
2) While connected to the Guest WiFI I tried to connect using ORBILOGIN.COM and ORBILOGIN.NET, as well as 192.168.1.1, and 10.0.0.1. The browser times out and can't connect
3) Connected my laptop using Ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports and tried connecting using the above login options. Nothing works.
4) Searched on the available WiFi networks for one with SSID ORBI92. No such network exists.
5) Use the ORBI app on my Android phone, but being on the guest WiFi it wouldn't allow me to connect.
6) Called Tech Support, but since I purchased the system in Feb 23, 2022 -- my tech support expired. The support tech also told me that due to security issues my system will completely stopped working unless i renew the support. I know that my ORBI Router and satellites have the latest firmware as of May 2025 since I was able to access the devices and have the firmware update. (I'm not sure how I access it then, LOL).
My devices are registered on the Netgear site. I'm OK paying for the tech support, but I would think that this problem should not be so hard to solve.
Any suggesting how to access the router and check why the primary WiFi isn't working?
Thanks,
Nahum

Hi,
Yes I created a custom SSID and a pswd. I can see that SSID in the list of available WiFi. But my device wouldn't connect; it tries to get an IP and keeps failing.
Seems like to only access I have to the SXR30 is using the Netgear Insight app. I changed the security to "open" (from WPA). So now I can access the custom SSID. But Open security isn't a good idea.
To do the factory reset I used the reset button.- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
What brand and model is this one device that you were trying to connect and it failed?
So changing from WPA to open allows the device to connect.
And if you change back to WPA2 and AES, the device again fails?
Does this happen with all devices or just this one particular device?

Total failure.
1. I reset the SXR30 to factory settings, and followed the recommended setup process. All attempts failed. The ORBIxx SSID was available but connecting to it kept failing.2. After factory reset, the white light in front of the device kept flashing and never stopped. I unplugged the power and re plugged and then the light stayed solid.
3. Tried two more time to do the factory reset
4. Tried to connect my laptop via Ethernet to the ORBI router, but still was unable to log into orbilogin.net or orbilogin.com, or the IP address, etc.
5. Downloaded Netgear Insight and I think it was able to see the SXR30 and there was a page where it asked me to create my WiFi network and pswd. I did. But then still I was unable to connect to this network.
The Insight app shows that the ORBI is connected. It can run a speed test which shows good results. But I can't connect to the WiFi network.
6. The SXR30 has the solid white light in front. Is it possible that the hardware failed? Or the firmware was unable to do a complete factory reset?
Any suggestions?

So did you try to set a custom SSID name and PW on the SXR for the wifi?
Try disabling WPA security or set to NONE to do a quick test to see if any wifi device would connect?
So how was the SXR reset, reset button press for 15 seconds or by using the ERASE button on the WEB page under Advanced Tab/Admin/Backup menu?
Erase button is recommended.

Orbi app is not supported on Orbi Pro systems. Only the home systems. You'll need to use a wired PC and Web broser to set up the system from a factory reset and scratch: https://kb.netgear.com/22697/How-do-I-install-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-router-web-interface
I believe you can try NGs Insight app that may work for the Orbi Pro series.

I'm finding that ORBI app doesn't work on the Guest network and similarly hardwired connection (ethernet between a laptop and the ORBI LAN port) may not work.
So FURRYe38 you are right. I have to do a factory reset and use the WiFi SSID ORBIxx to connect and redo the home WiFi and the Guest WiFi. I was hoping to avoid that.
