Orbi Pro 6 (SXR80 - SXS80) Connection with Powerline Adapter

Hi Community,

Has anyone had success connecting an Orbi Pro 6 Mesh System Router to a Satellite using a Powerline Adapter?

I have a a network setup with an SXR80 and an SXS80 but was having a difficult time keeping the satellite connected. Lacking a direct wired connection I have tried a Netgear Powerline adapter and while it appears to work....the Insight App shows a connected satellite on the dashboard, when I click into the satellite screen, the satellite details show an IP Address, with 0 connected clients and Mesh Link Status of "Disconnected" and firmware version of "0"

However, it does appear to be working as a viable access point.  I am just wondering if this is now running in some sort of reduced performance mode and I also wonder whether the automatic firmware updates will happen as scheduled and desired?

Any insights (pun intended) into what might be going on, will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I've done it with the 30 series.

When you set it up, is it going SXR lan port---->powerline----->powerline----> satellite ethernet?

    Have you tried rebooting?

Yes, that is exactly how I have it setup. I did not actually think it would work because the outlets that I am using are on different subpanels, but I was pleasantly surprised when the lights indicates the connection was good.

I am glad that the connectivity is there, but I just don't understand whey the Insight App does not show the Satellite as connected and why it cannot read or display the firmware version.  I was thinking perhaps the backchannel communication between the hardware does not work over a powerline connection.

Getting a connection is one thing, getting useful speeds is another.  I've found that powerline can be very hit-or-miss (and I don't trust the LEDs).  That's especially true when the outlets are connected to different subpanels.

If you can connect ethernet to a PC, then I suggest connecting that PC to the powerline connection (not changing the outlet pairs) and running speedtest.

If not, you could connect your router to the satellite powerline connection, and connect the other end to your ISP lan connection.  Then run speedtest on the router.

what powerline kit is it? And what does it show if you log in through the browser and not the app (never trusted the app)?
