HomePod Mini Not working on MR60 Mesh WHEN Satellites are NOT Plugged in
After working with Apple support on this we came to the conclusion that the homepod mini can airplay fine (my Apple TV too) ONLY when none of the satilites are powered on. Works for all the AirPlay from any device - once I have the satilite(s) powered on the AirPlay will not work. Apple said that is on the Netgear's seetings somewhere and contact them So any one ese have this issue?
Thank you,
James
- When you upgrade/downgrade, always do it satellite first, router after:

According to their support the fix should come in next firmware, in between you can try this.

Looks like I have no coverage though - I bought back in November 2020 for almost $300 and yet left alone. Only place it lets me get help is asking the Q in the community forum :(
Thanks for the suggestion.

If it helps, I have the same issue with airplaying. Sometimes it does work when the homepods and phone happen to connect to the same router / satellite. Hopefully they update the firmware and resolve this issue.
your support page doesn't work

I am tired of wasting almost a year on this issue with no help from Netgear. Surprised this company is even runinng - upper management even know of this? Tax season I am throwing Netgear away and buying the compition! I got way more support from Apple on a device half the cost. I wish I knew someone in the media to give this story too..... well....
I even posted on Twitter and it gets ignored. Just tired of this product, the company, and its lack of service!

Just bought an HomePod mini yesterday and noticed immediately that transferring audio from iPhone to HomePod didn't work (while being closer to the satellite MS60 than the router MR60)... except when I was far from the HomePod (maybe meaning that my iPhone was connected on the router MR60 and HomePod on the satellite MS60...). HomePod seems to work great when using Siri but Airplay streaming is completely messed up.

Same for me and waiting for Apple engineers to call back....

I am also having this issue on firmware version 1.0.6.102
- jaymz69ApprenticeWe need someone from netgear to step in and help on this issue. But no one will help me unless I pay for support. Just does not make any sense Netgear! I been using them for years but when I need them I cannot get help.

Hello NETGEAR Community,
Our engineering team is aware of the reports regarding the MR60 and HomePod Mini. We currently do not have further details or an ETA on the next firmware release.
Regards,
Christian

Reporting that I am having the exact same issue. Homepod Mini works just fine when the satellite is unplugged, but with the router and satellite plugged in AirPlay and handoff will not work at all.
My MR60 is on firmware v1.0.6.102.

I figured I may as well tack on my issue to this thread as I too am having problems with my new Netgear MK62 mesh kit when using my Homepods.
I recently purchased a MK62 Netgear mesh router (MR60) and satellite setup (MS60). Both devices have been updated to 1.0.6.110 (from https://kb.netgear.com/000063755/MR60-MS60-Firmware-Version-1-0-6-110).
I am having immense problems getting stereo playback on my two Homepods when the satellite is plugged in. Instead, only one Homepod plays music, while the other Homepod remains switched off. Both Homepods are located closer to the satellite than the router.
When I unplug the satellite, the Homepods play in stereo correctly (but then I have unreliable wifi at the back of my house).
I did not have issues using my previous Amplifi HD setup, suggesting it's a problem with how the Netgear is handling the mesh setup.
- MELso76Aspirant
Further to my previous post, I have assigned static IPs to the two HomePods and this seems to have sorted the stereo playback issue (for now), suggesting there's an issue with DHCP or similar. (As an aside, I should not have to be assigning static IPs to devices to have them work properly.)
As for AirPlay, I too am finding that the Apple Private Address feature is conflicting with the ability to AirPlay through the mesh network. Once I turned the setting off, AirPlay worked properly. Netgear needs to review how its devices operate with this feature of iOS and update their firmware...

I did the satlite and router manual formware install from the files thy sent in the link above and after that my AirPlay so far for the last couple days workd for once!!!!! Christian_R MELso76

I did what they wanted for the firmware patch and it works now for me - though I only have 1 HomePod Mini.
Hello jamz69,
We recently re-published firmware v1.0.6.110. May you reinstall the firmware version linked below.

This firmware is just the one I already have (MR60 and MS60). How is it supposed to fix the issue ?
- glenn_TutorJust dropping in to say i am having the same issues as everyone else. Satellite is in bedroom with two homepods. Air playing to the homepods does not work.
My current firmware is 1.0.6.116
Hoping this new firmware comes soon.- jaymz69ApprenticeMine do not work at all after them saying they fixed it. Netgear! Who is in charge of this? Can someone step-up and take ownership of this BIG issue? Or is this a personal thing against Apple with you guys???? Which shouldn't matter, we are the customers who paid hundreds of dollars for something to work and just get ignored as if not a big deal. Why don't we see Netgear use them in their own home and work places. Then what?
- ChoppersTutorAdd me to the list of people still looking for a solution. I may need to return this to Amazon before I’m outside the return window. I wish there was some concrete information about the progress with addressing this issue.
- jaymz69Apprentice
At elast you can return it still, I did not get a HomePod and find out it did not work with my currrent hardware/AirPlay2 until after my return peroid expired and the support for Netgear also expired; they want me to pay money to fix their issue - which is clearly not ONLY my issue.
Netgear really, really, needs to put this up as a priority 1!
I just pulled out a smart plug that I need to use outside and it will not work either on the netgear mesh system. It keeps wanting me to be on the same network, so it cannot distinguish between the two satilites on the mesh system either.
HELLO, Netgear, can you hear us now?
- jaymz69Apprentice
Anyone having luck with this working on iOS 15????? I cannot still cannot use my Apple devices with AitPLay on a Mesh system with Netgear!!!! EVen other smart devices from other vendors (non Apple) ALSO FAIL!!!! nothing seems to like he Netgear Mesh system!!! NEATGEAR PLEASE HELP BEEN OVER A YEAR!!!!

- glenn_TutorNetgear can we please just have a working software update that will work with the Apple homepod? This is ridiculous.
- GregCroGuide
Anyone looking for a wonderful thread to share their story of their router/satellite not working with Airplay/Handoff/Timemachine I'd suggest this is a great place to add your story:
- jaymz69Apprentice
I posted on a thread with the same complaints, thanks for the link!
- jaymz69Apprentice
All I get when I call neatgear support is I am out of time for support, PAY more $$$ aand we can help you. WAIT! listen to what is happening FIRST!!! Really need some customer service training at Netgear!!!!!
- McRip2012Aspirant
Got the same issue with my MR60 + satellites. I really hope netgear will fix this some time soon.
Another frustrated owner. I own 3 HomePods, when i turn off the satellites, everything works great, once they're on... can't connect to them. Any news on a software fix for this?
- ArkhyleTutor
Hi,
A correction has been developped the 3rd of March 2021 and it works:
MR60-V1.0.6.103_21.03.03_homepod.chk
MS60-V1.0.6.103_21.03.03_homepod.chk
but it is still not impemented in the current release MR60-V1.0.6.116_2.0.54.chk.
One workaround is to wire (when possible) the satellite MS60 with the MR60.
- jaymz69Apprentice
Does not work for me, and I have wireess mesh system for the reason I CANNOT be wored so defeats the purpose...
Still waiting for a fix...
- jimjohn101Aspirant
Hi Arkhyle,
Is there somewhere we can download this firmware?
Thanks
- So the software is not released yet? Also I thought the Ethernet port was to connect a peripheral device. Didn’t think I could connect the satellite with the router. Wouldn’t defeat the purpose of being wireless
Though ethernet connected MS offer ethernet connected support in cases where wireless may not be good. Wire has better operation and performances over wireless.
Possible not having MS not connected via ethernet is revealing a problem with HomePod devices.
