Nighthawk Mesh Wifi 6 Router MR60 losing connection to 2.4 devices
I have a Nighthawk Mesh MR60 with the Satelite. About once a day, it loses connection to all the 2.4 devices on my network. It remains connected to the 5.0 devices. I have to reboot the router and it all comes back. This is getting quite annoying. Anyone have any idea or suggestions? I have already downloaded the latest firmware and have checked that both the router and the satelite have the latest version.

- EchoEchoAspirantI have an issue after recent firmware update to 106102…My satelite has been always shown orange lamp and disconnected from host. i did a new set up yesterday but the issue still existed… it comes that all my wifi devices connected to satelite had been got unstable and bad connection… please help or any new firmware to fix the problem?

I just bought a Nighthawk Mesh Wifi 6 system with two sattelites from Costco. Although I was aware of issues in the past I bought this in the hope that firmware would have solved this by now.
My kids have been reporting that the connection on their tablets has dropped several times and that makes things difficult for an online teaching environment. I haven't had problems on my pc, but it's wired to one of the satellites. My wife also hasn't experienced disconnects on her laptop.
Current firmware is V1.0.6.102_2.0.45.
This really needs to be solved.
I hope someone is listening.
Best

Hi Andre,
Your experience seems to suggest greater instability than I experienced, which may be due to one of two things. When I installed the router, I switched to using WPA3 and I had problems with the "auto join" feature on my phone and iPad, which may be perceived as dropped connections because when the screen goes to lock mode, the connection is dropped and if the auto join feature is not working, when the device is unlocked, it seems as if the connection isn't working. I was able to resolve this by "forgetting" the network and then re-joining; apparently information that was stored made it difficult for the auto join to work and by forgetting the network that information was cleared.
Other posts have suggested that the problem is due to a memory leak, which I would consider a strong possibility for an explanation, and it is possible that with more devices and users, that memory leak is exacerbated. One potential workaround for this is to reboot or power off early every day in the hopes that The memory leak will not cause a problem within a single day.
Obviously this problem needs to be solved quickly, and it is surprising that it has lasted as long as it has, but hopefully one of these two suggestions will be helpful.
Thanks, John
- NugTutorSo far I have not had the ‘DHCP issue’ or any other issue since connecting the satellite via cable to the MR60. I also consistently get great speeds from All devices.
The modem and sat auto-updated to 1.0.6.102 and I have continued to not have any issues.
Fingers crossed! Thanks Netgear for the latest update. We all hope to see the end of this issue. - KshawksInitiateI’ve had this router for probably 3 months, and have had nothing but issues and problems. I’ve never been so irritated and frustrated by a router ever. The past 5 days specifically I lose internet probably 10-15 times daily. I work from home, so it’sa out of fun getting that “vpn lost connection” error message. I’ve tried all the tops I could find in here, I’ve reached out to tech and have no resolution. I’ll have to return this back to Costco, and buy something more reliable if it doesn’t get better quickly.
- BourbonOnRocksAspirantReturn it before it's too late. Switch to Asus. Netgear doesn't care about their customers.

Update:
For eveyone that has been told they can not return their router after 3 months, there is a way. I filed a complaint with the BBB, which caused a different team at Netgear to open a support case. It took about a month, but I got a full refund and Netgear paid shipping. The complaint needs to be filed where Netgear is headquartered. https://sanjose.app.bbb.org/complaintreply
Good Luck!

Hey, hubbs and I have had this router for about a month and we're still having issues with connection. Overnight my Galaxy S10 will disconnect -- my LG TV will disconnect/buffer in the middle of streaming, and devices all over our house will go out. We have tried to roll back firmware and it reinstalled itself and the issue has persisted as it has for many others.
We have manually gone in to assign the 2.4GHz channel and the 5GHz channel in accordance with what is best for the connection (we both work in IT) as well as assigned static IPs to the most troublesome disconnects.
Is there going to be any fix for this? This thing is a POS avoid at all costs!
- DalePMayInitiateGreat... I just found this forum tonight..... My MK63 is being delivered tomorrow...
Hi All,
Just wanted to put my two cents in here as i was having the same issues as everyone else and it's actually how i stumbled on to this thread. so i was having the same issues as the OP, my wifi connection constantly disconnecting from the internet source but the wifi network says active. A little bit about my set up so for those who have the same issue and setup can try this fix. I have verizon fios with an old G1100 router that i put in bridge mode and oviously i have the mr60 with 2 sats. the bridged mode verizon router to the wan port of my nighthawk didnt work ( Kept losing intenet access ) so i plugging the internet source directly to the nighthawk but, it gave the same issue until i changed a setting in the nighthawk router. under internet settings in the advanced menu of the nighthawk router, scroll to the bottom where is says router mac address. change it to use this mac address. after that change ive had a stable internet connection with no drops. as to why this worked i dont know maybe a network guru can explain but, it works. hope this little bit of info helps someone, it is a good mesh system for the money and its a shame we are having so may problems with it. good luck everyone.
also i forgot to add to change the MTU to 1400

Hi liquidgeek , thanks for the info. Interestingly enough, I do not experience any connectivity issues and my settings are as follows:
1. For the DNS setting you mentioned above *Router MAC Address), I'm using the first option which is "Use Default Address".
2. For the MTU setting, I have it set to 1500.

I purchased the MR60 mesh at costco. Lost connection 2 or 3 times per day. I am connected to a cable modem which has built in wifi, Modem/wifi combo via cable that came with unit. I disabled the wifi on the cable modem and I have not lost connection in 3 days. Just running the wifi on the MR60 Mesh. I followed the setup wizard and set the SSID at password to match the current wifi of the modem as instructed in the setup instructions. Is it possible the wifi on the MR60 was interfering with the wifi broadcast of the cable modem/wifi combo unit?

Hi everyone.
Do not know if it may help you, but setting manual bands and disabling "20/40 Mhz coexistence" helped in may case ( but I only had a single device dropping like crazy, so it may not apply for you ).
Thank you.
- CincykidInitiateConstant drops. Have tried everything. Returned my new modem thinking it was related but as a test, now have Xfinity modem and still having issues connecting. Think I am taking this back as well.

Hello all,
I just wanted to tell you that last firmware seems to be more stable. However im using only the router (without the satelite).
But also, i want to share my final answer before i close the support case:Hello XXXX!
Im testing this one since saturday.
Is much more stable than before. However my computer got kicked from the network without any reason.
Although it happened once.
I have to update the satellite.
However i will not keep this device as is still not good enough...
Really a lot of missing options/configurations.
I cannot setup specific SSID for specific band, mobile devices are jumping from one band to the other...
I already went for another solution, much more flexible and stable than this one.
So, thanks for your support... this is my last repply as i will never use a netgear product again, and of course, i will never recommend it.
- NicTLgTutorI have the same problem with my Mr60 system and 2 MS60 satellites. I actually read it was best to download the previous version of the firmware, so I tried that. It worked for a few days, but I still get disconnects. I've tried port forwarding and reserving certain ports for my 2.4ghz devices that I need daily (smart bulbs, security cameras, smart ceiling fans w/lights), but nothing seems to permanently fix the issue. I had problems like this on my Nighthawk R6000 and R6000 as well. You'd think I'd learn my lesson and stop buying Netgear. I even have 5 ARLO Pro and Ultra cameras, and even they don't play well with the family, and most are wired (smart bases / hubs are also wired). These are expensive units, fix it Netgear!

I've MR60 Nighthawk router and I downloaded latest firmware and all devices disconnect throughout the day. I keep loosing WIFI everyday. My cable provider is also unable to tell me what the issue is
I’m getting very frustrated. Can You provide any real solution to this?
- Retired_MemberFor now the solution is:
Ask for your money back and buy a wifi 6 mesh solution from another brand.
Sad but true..
