XR500 DHCP issue
I've had this router for 4 months now and it works fine most of the time. Once in a while I'll notice that some LAN devices become unresponsive, when I look into the issue it turns out that they have IPs issued by my ISP's DHCP servers. Rebooting the router solves the problem. My WAN connection utilizes DHCP, but I can't figure out why local devices within the NAT would be getting IPs from an external DHCP rather than from the router all of a sudden.
Anyone else run into a similar problem?

- Netduma_JackNetDuma PartnerHi - I would recommend giving the XR500 a static WAN IP on the modem if it has the option to and see if that fixes your problem.

Why would the WAN interface DHCP setting affect LAN interfaces? This sounds like it's a software issue with DumaOS if that's the case.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerI've PM'd you, please see if that firmware fixes the issue.

- Netduma_JackNetDuma PartnerI’ll PM you now Wildunt. Hopefully this fixes your problem.

im also have this issue of lan ports crashing - once i reboot the router it works.
Try a manual FW load. You might revert back to intial shipping FW to see if the problem is seen there. Factory reset after manually loading FW and setup from scratch.
Set the Default DHCP IP address pool from 192.168.1.1/.254 to 192.168.1.100 to .200.
Try this. Ensure that your using reserved IP addresses for chosen devices ON the router. Ensure that when using Static IP address ON devices that these IP addresses are outside of the default DHCP IP address pool set on the router.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerAs above, have you tried the most recent firmware? Also are the devices in instant on/standby modes?

ive done all that. its a fw issue

I'm having the same issue. I just purchased the XR700 and thinking of returning it. Many of my devices will not connect to WiFi. Some say failed to obtain IP address. I've tried everything I can think of with no solution. Could I please try this BETA firmware? Netduma-Fraser
My log is attached file.
Try reverting back ot v20 FW. Other 700 users reported having resolved problems with this prior version of FW.
Also do a factory reset after downgrading and setup from scratch.
Also set the DHCP IP address pool to 192.168.1.100 to .200.

Great suggestions from Furry. I recommend you try all of them.
Also, I assume you haven't set static IP address on these devices? If so, please set them back to dynamic
I got my XR450 last August. Have had zero issues with aside the lower 2.4ghz radio. The 450 has same HW as the 500 accept for the 2.4Ghz radio. No issues seen with DHCP on it.
However I do use a smaller DCHP IP address pool and not default. Also I use 192.168.0.1 instead of 1.1. :smileyvery-happy:

I have the same problem as you, I am in version XR500 V2.3.2.40 and my journal is filled with message DHCP !!!
Possible to have a beta version?

there is another solution?- Netduma-FraserNetDuma Partnerslaine are you having any issues from this or just increased log entries?
- LOCKxPersesAspirantThe wired connection stops after I turn xbox off or disconnect the ethernet cable from the xbox. And it will not reconnect to the internet even though it shows it works. It also kicks me off randomly when I'm playing when its wired.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerI'm not sure I understand, other devices are affected by you turning off/unplugging Xbox? What game are you playing? If you disable the Geo-Filter does that prevent the random kicks?
- LOCKxPersesAspirantYes I have done all those things I play battlefield, anthem and some other like games the only thing that Is affected is my wired in xbox. The ip address on it is very weird. I'm not sure if that is the issue.

I'm having the same issue, when the PS4 is downloading in rest mode, the downloads pause at the same time there is a DHCP lease change. I've already ordered a new router from Asus as I have got zero help with this issue on the Netduma forums and on here(although I only posted here 12 hours ago).
On firmware V2.3.2.56.
What's the deal? Is it dodgy fw if so what should I have been using and where do I find it.
Not going in depth on all my troubleshooting as I have done so in my own post here and on duma forums, but rest assured I have narrowed it down to this router as the culprit.
- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerI've responded in both your topics on here and the Netduma forum.
- Slippin_JimmyAspirant
Replying doesn't equate to helping. You have offered zero help in fixing the issue. Thanks for absolutely nothing but complete, and utter incompetence. You and the so called Netgear support, which is also distinctly lacking.
- BPowellTutor
I have a similar issue (with the newest live firmware). Static LAN IPs outside the DHCP range are still being interrupted when the lease renews.
- tekonsiteApprenticeI think more and more people need to express their experiences with Netgear and the XR series routers like @mrbuckweet and @lamcity. I think if we keep expressing the issues on this forum they will eventually take notice. I also recommend you express your opinions on social media sites (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook) like @nighthawkprogaming, netgear, @netduma. Any site that advertises the XR500 and XR700 series Nighthawk routers. If everyone on this forum starts to add their stories about the horrible firmware experiences and lack of support the word will get out and they will take notice. As customers we should not sit idle and wait for large companies like Netgear to take our money and provide a poor product. It is not @Netduma-Frasers fault, as he has expressed he is trying to get the devs to take notice. Let's get the word out to social media and see if Netgear steps up and claims accountability of their products and fixes these issues that has been going on since 2018.
