  • Updated firmware manually. It usually took a few weeks for the issue to appear. I will report back with results in 3 weeks or so. Thanks!

  • Since I installed 6.3.8.11 I have not been able to activate parental controls (with paid subscription !) anymore.

”Activation failed. Please try again later”

Had similar issues before with older firmware, which i was able to work around with factory resets. I have done 4 factory resets now, newly configuring everything from scratch. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app in between. No luck…

    Any suggestions on that issue?

Starting to get a little frustrated here…

Please make contact with NG support regarding subscription issues. All that is beyond forum help.

  • Just to provide some feedback: firmware 6.3.8.11 has not resolved my issue of occasionally loosing configuration on reboot.

And Netgear support have not been able to restore my SPC functionality so far, despite spending lost of hours troubleshooting and lots of chats and phone calls.

They are currently in the process of refunding the paid SPC subscription, not really the solution I hoped for.

Thank you for letting us know.

You may need to find an alternative for your needs.

      Good Luck.

Going for an alternative indeed: just ordered a Firewalla purple SE to get the SPC functionality I need (+much more I guess...)  And will use the Netgear devices as Access Point only.

Let's see how that works out!

  • "Do you have back up configuration files on hand to help you get the system back in to working states after the loss of the configuration?"

I just reconfigure it from scratch, without using backup file. When I get to the stage where in can upload a backup, it's only a few clicks from being done anyway, pretty simple setup. Most of the config time is booting, connecting to internet and wait times after applying settings.

"After doing factory resets and setup from scratch, and not loading any backup configurations from file, is the problem still happening with the loss of configuration after reboots? "

    Yes!

  • Looks like all my support options have expired while they were they were taking their time not finding a solution to the SPC issue. Any suggestions on how get a new case going? Or re-opening the previous SPC case number 49727343? In which I also mentioned this loss of config issue multiple times....

I've asked a moderator to review this. Thank you for inputting the prior case #.

      All we can do.

  • After spending some more time troubleshooting, I have been able to consistently re-produce the loss of configuration on reboot. It happens when a RBR760 reboot is initiated while any backhaul is in  'config sync' status. I think this should be enough detail for Netgear engineering to re-reproduce this issue and get it fixed in a new firmware release.

Any updates, please update your support case regarding this.

So if the config sync is not the status and status is GOOD, the config remains thru a reboot?

Correct, if the backhaul status is 'Good' or 'Poor' or 'Disconnected', the router will reboot just fine and come back online with unchanged configuration.

  • Where did the text "Any updates, please update your support case regarding this." come from?

Anyway, I cannot update a closed case. And I cannot open a new case, because my 'Online Case Entitlement' has expired...

You'll have to get in contact with NG support and ask if they can reopen your case.

You'll need to check the status of the RBS prior to trying any reboots of the RBR.

Keep a backup configuration file handy for those times the RBR doesn't keep the configuration thru a reboot. Saves time.

I've already passed what you posted to the moderator. All this is beyond forum help.
