Updated firmware to 7.2.7.15 on a RBR750 and 2 RBS750's
I now have one of my RBS750's reporting as model RBS750QV and reporting that the status "update failed". Current name and current firmware version are correct and show firmware as 7.2.7.15 and three devices are currently connected to the RBS750QV. Anyone know what is wrong?

Same here RBS750QV update status failed. Checking for new firmware under 7.2.1.5 says nothing new. However, Net Gear site says it's 7.2.8.5 for the RBR750 and RBS750. I disabled auto update and downloaded/manually updated both satellite first, then the router. The router name reversed back to RBR750 and both updates successful (No update failure on RBS750.

Glad to hear this and glad the RBS reverted back to corrected operation.
Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

I just noticed as well. I turned off my auto update feature and will check for updates on my won every 6 months and upload and update myself

Two of my three RBS750 now show up as RBS750QV. All three show version v7.2.7.15 but the two with QV also show update failed.

Happening to me as well. The satellite is hosting clients, so all appears ok other than the strange name and ‘update failed’ status.
The QV does not appear on the RBS web page. It only shows up on the firmware update page under “Model Name” and the Status says “Update failed”.

Thanks for confirming this.
And RBS is working normally otherwise?
Yes, the satellite appears to be working correctly with no issues.
I updated my system a couple of days ago with the same results. I' m now at v7.2.7.15, all appears to be working correctly but I still have a satellite which shows up as a model RBS750QV in the Orbi app along with the firmware failure notation under firmware update. I will leave it at this firmware level unless I find a new issue. Thanks for all of the suggestions!

Does the QV appear on the RBS web page if you log into the RBS web page there?

No. There is no official Orbi satellite with the model number RBS750QV.
Users with this unusual ("impossible"?) situation appear to have choices:
- Since v7.2.7.15 is the most recent firmware for the 750 system. If the system appears to be functioning correctly apart from this anomaly, that would argue for "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." i.e. leave it alone.
- If the system is NOT working correctly, then the obvious step is to install previous firmware versions (satellites first. router last) until the system works correctly. Then disable Automatic Updates so that the system does not immediately return to v7.2.7.15
This is one of those situations where not being eligible to open a support ticket with Netgear is unfortunate. (my '90 days of complimentary support' expired in 2017).

Having the exact same issue! where the heck does "QV" come from. Is that another model?

I'm seeing the exact same issue too. Identical; same number of units, same firmware same issue on one of them.

You'll need to make contact with NG support and let them know about this. Nothing else we can do here in the forums.
Revert the system back to what was working and disable auto update for now.
