RBE771 Connection Constantly Dropping
I have an RBE771/RBE770 that I have had running for just under a year. My current setup I am using Ting and I get 2GB up/down. They have a fiber modem which I run into the Orbi and I also have a NETGEAR 8-port 2.5G Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch.
In the last month, I am getting 10-20 drops a day. I can't hit a website at all and everything comes to a grinding halt. Sometime the connection comes back after 3-5 minutes but lately I am just unplugging the Router to reboot it.
My firmware was current in the admin console but a Netgear search said the latest was V10.5.20.3 so I loaded that up about 4 days ago. No change on the drops at all.
I contacted Ting and they of course said everything was fine on their end. They show a solid connection and no errors.
Any suggestions on troubleshooting here? I will probably replace all cables this weekend for grins but this is nuts on a less than one year old Orbi Mesh system. My prior Orbi system was amazing for years but was limited to 1GB so I had to upgrade when Ting gave us 2GB. The logs I am looking at are basically worthless from the admin panel. Just basic info and nothing isolating an error.
Appreciate any feedback!

It would help to have a detailed description of "drops". i.e.
- The WiFi signal disappears temporarily, or the WiFi signal does not disappear?
- Both devices connected with Ethernet and devices connected via WiFi are affected?
- When this happens every device connected to the system is affected the same way?

Good call out. Yeah every device loses connection whether they are ethernet or connected via WiFi. It is like we hit a dead zone. I have seen speeds on Ookla go from 2100mbps d/l to 10mbps and then to zero.

Another question is which type of communication is affected?
Can devices connected to the system communicate with each other?
For example, can they ping another device? Can they ping the router?
(although we generally think of ICMP [ping] being a 'computer function', there are apps for smartphones and tablets which can do ping.)
Does anything appear in the Orbi log when these episodes occur?

The only thing I have tried is accessing the admin control panel which I can do from WiFi or ethernet. So LAN is good. Logs on the other hand I had setup to report everything but there is nothing being written to it when we lose connection.

Does the front LED on the RBR turn PINK or blink WHITE when this happens?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Smart Parental Controls or Circle, IPv6, Traffic Meter.Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router and satellite(s) been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network. How many RBS are deployed?

Thanks all -
I spoke to Ting - they can see the drops but they are saying it does not appear to be on their side. The connection has been solid. They are sending me an Eero System to see if it is the Netgear setup or on their side. If we continue to see drops, they will come out and look at it.
On the RBR, I am not seeing any lights at all but will check it again when it happens.
The ONT is a Calix 1100X
My Cables are running STP from the ONT to the Router and Router to my switch. I ordered two new Cat6A Patch Cables(S/FTP) that will be here on Saturday. I will replace those for grins.

How about IPv6?
Also are you using ISP detected DNS or custom DNS? If ISP, please try custom DNS like cloudfare or quad9.
What is the model# of the switch connected behind the RBR?
I presume you have tested the RBR with out the switch being connected?
- ocnblueTutor
I have ethernet connections directly into the Router and those also lose connections. The switch is mentioned in the initial post - NETGEAR 8-port 2.5G Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Plus Switch. IPv6 is disablled in the router. IPv6 is disabled in the router.

Something to try, put the NG switch in between the ONT and the RBR, only connect these two to the switch. Then see if the RBR still see's this issue.
What is the model# of this switch? MS or GS something?
- ocnblueTutor
I enabled IPv6 - did not realize that was disabled.
The switch is - MS308E-100NAS.I will give you suggestion a tr this weekend.

Ok, check with ISP to see if they support native IPv6. If they don't then you can keep IPv6 disabled. If they do, ask them which IPv6 configuration is needed.

i.e. it points to Ting.
