5Ghz wifi not working

Hi all,

Im having an issue with AX6000 router.

Couple of days ago my 5ghz wifi network suddenly disappeared, i tried rebooting the router but it didn't help.

I've reached out to customer support and tried following troubleshooting steps:

- Reseting the router to factory settings

- Renaming wifi connection

- Downgrading firmware and upgrading it back

- Changing wifi channels

- Enabled 5ghz guest network with & without security - Result: "Cant connect to this network"

None of those helped.

Just few moments ago i performed hard reset of the router and even though the network is now visible my devices connect to it for a brief moment and then the connection is dropped. Before hard reset i was able to connect to network from my phone but there was "no internet connection" while my laptops were either unable to connect "Cant connect to this network" or it was not visible to the laptops at all.

Current firmware is: v1.0.10.140

Is there anything else i can try?

    Disappeared from what? All devices?

    Did you see this:

NETGEAR Mobile Applications and Apple Devices FAQ - NETGEAR Communities

Unless you have disabled Smart Connect there is just one SSID for 2.4 and 5 GHz.

If a laptop, for example, can't see the router that would mean that all WiFi is dead.

What do the LEDs look like? Is the WiFi LED on?

What modem/gateway/ONT sits between the router and the Internet?

  • 1. What router do you have? AX6000 is a speed, not a model.

    2. Your description doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Some devices can see it but when connected get "connected, no internet" while others can't see it at all? That doesn't make sense. If it wasn't broadcasting, nothing could see it. If its broadcasting and you're connecting devices to it but getting connected, no internet, then it tends to indicate a configuration error. Clarity helps here. Plus screen snips of the routers wifi status page and/or something like insidder or acrylic wifi scanner.

    3. What modem/gateway is the router connected to?

      Hi all,

      1. The model is RAX80

      2. Current set-up was working fine for 2.5 years, Wifi 5ghz seems to be online in the admin portal but even though i can connect to it the connection is dropped within 30mins of connecting. Previously it was either not visible at all or when visible devices could not connect. I've performed one more hard reset today which allows devices to connect but as i mentioned connection is lost after approx. 30 mins

Here is the 5ghz set up:

The router is connected via cable straight to the internet outlet.

Wifi LED is enabled and 2.4ghz network works without any issues. Smart connect is disabled

Here is the 5ghz set up:

The router is connected via cable straight to the internet outlet.-----this still comes from something. Whether its an ONT or some type of gateway, there is still something its connected to as the RAX doesn't have any modem capability.

Go in and set your "up to ****" speed from up to 4800mbps to 2400mbps. You're using dfs channels. Not sure how frequently they're used in EU (since it looks like your region) but if a new weather/radar is broadcasting in your area, it could be causing issues. You'll also want to check whats supplying internet. Double nats can cause all kinds of random issues. Its usually not a problem but it could be causing your "connected, no internet' issue.
