Printer has stopped working
Hi, my PC (win 11, 15H2) can't be connected to my printer (Brother DCP-L2540DW) anymore. Both are connected to a Netgear RAX10. I can ping the router but not the printer through the router. I need some help to get this resolved.
Thanks,
Ed

How would I know about the ISP's hardware?
No updating changes lately.
Restarted the printer several times, reinstalled also.
Yes, the printer shows a network connection.
Shows up on RAX10 attached devices.

Shows up on RAX10 attached devices. If the problem was the two PCs not being able to print, I would delete the printer using the Windows Control Panel and reinstall it on Windows. Using ICMP (ping) is a common diagnostic step.
When the printer claims to have a valid IP address (which matches the IP shown in Attached Devices) but does not respond when pinged, something is seriously wrong.
It might be useful to confirm that the Windows PCs are translating the IP address to the correct Ethernet hardware MAC address by looking at the ARP table
(i.e. command arp -a)

There's a lot of information we still don't have. Private/Public network status, what internet security software is running (if any), whether the Windows Firewall is on or off.
Also, whether this is a new router installation, or whether this worked with the RAX10 at some point in the past.
FWIW, the Brother troubleshooting FAQ says that the printer might not respond to ping if it is in a sleep state. So I suggested a different way of double-checking that it is connected (boing to the printer's web page). esebm could also do something manually with the printer (navigate the menus for example), and immediately after that try the ping test again.

Shows up on RAX10 attached devices.Do you reach the printer's web page when you browse to its IP address on the PC?
Did you confirm the the PC has the network set to "Private"

This would be on-premise hardware, so you'd just need to read the label on it.
But if the printer is connected to the RAX10, it's not related to the problem.

I recommend contacting the printers Mfr support and help line.

Does the printer control panel show that it has a network connection? (Sometimes networking information can be printed out.)
Does the printer show up on the RAX10 Attached Devices display?

Have you tried
- restarting the printer?
- "forgetting" the wifi connection on the printer and reconnecting it? (assuming the printer is connected with wifi)
- removing the printer from the PC and reinstalling the full download software package, and adding the printer back?

Router Firmware Version V1.0.19.172
There is another PC connected to the printer via USB, works fine and a laptop via Wi-Fi, which does not ping/print either.
The funny thing is that this same setup has worked for years without a hitch until a few weeks ago. I have ordered new Ethernet cables, just in case.
Not sure what you mean by ISP modem. The router is connected to an MSI B 450 Tomahawk Max II mobo.
Drivers are pointed to the correct IP address.

ISP modem is the internet service providers modem or ONT that the RAX router is connected to get internet services from.
Been any printer FW updates or router updates recently?
Any changes ot your PCs regarding updated by chance?
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Can you ping other devices connected to the router?
What FW version is on the router?
Brand and model# of the ISP modem/ONT that the RAX is connected too?
Be sure the drivers and drivers are pointed to the IP address given by the router to the printer is correct.
Be sure printer is ethernet or wireless connected to router.
Make contact with the printer mfr for help and information regarding there product.
