Smart Parental Controls has stopped working (again?)
Hi,
Today, SPC has stopped working. Within in the Orbi app I cannot see any devices listed, profiles cannot be added or editied, and I cannot disable (with the intention to re-enable) SPC; with the error;SPC-DISABLE-FAIL. The whole SPC part of the app is very slow and times out constantly
Internet access is fine, and I can see all devices in the web interface. I've factory defaulted and rebooted numerous times.
Reading recent posts, this has happened before (recently) - is the problem back?

- BurloncaInitiateCalled tech support and they confirmed cloud services are down. Having same issues on Nighthawk MR60.

Understand everything could go down. But its a really bad design to not have a 'disable' function NOT tied to the service. When your SPC cloud service is down, the SPC disable button on the app also wouldn't work. Thats not acceptable.

- Jfal8120InitiateSame issue with my Orbi app. Was on phone with customer support at 10 am today and she was not very knowledgeable and said there were no services reported down.
I still can’t do anything with the parental controls and now all the kids devices are locked out because the stupid app won’t let me turn on the internet.
This is unacceptable. Netgear has been failing again and again and I think I’m done. 600 dollar system that doesn’t even work.- Retired_Member
Had the same issue yesterday. Today all my devices “came back” in the app and I could do changes to the different profiles in the SPC. However I can’t see any usage, or history browsing data in the different profiles. So it looks like they have fixed something but not all. Anyone having the same issue?

Has anyone opened a support ticket for this issue where the parental controls aren’t tracking usage (among other related issues)?
I’m going to do so later today but I’d be curious if there are any troubleshooting steps we can do on our end.

Besides the lack of history, the bigger issue (for me anyway) is that none of the controls even do anything. Pausing devices doesn't actually pause them. Time limits not working. Bedtime not working. Just wondering if others are seeing the same thing...

Yes, all those functions you mentioned no longer work for me either.
- pausing, bed-time, off-time, app limits, - nothing works even though it registers the settings.

I did a factory reset on the orbi and everything is working now. Lost all the profile information for devices, but after resetting those parent controls are working again, showing usage etc.. Hoping that doesn't happen again.

What FW is loaded on the Orbi system?

I too have lost Parental Controls (June 2023) and have been trawling the forums looking for answers....seems there aren't any!! I am using the Nighthawk app. Useage reports & pausing of the internet were working fine. Then last week I noticed that my son's profile said he hadn't been online - when we most definitely had! Realised pausing the internet wasn't working either. Said it was paused but access was still there. Support have been no help. Firmware is up to date, app is up to date, my phone software is up to date. I have rebooted (several times!!) , done a power cycle, deleted the app & reinstalled it. Deleted the devices & readded them, deleted the profiles and readded them. I currently have a Parental controls free trial - but it's certainly not instilling any confidence in me to pay the $$ for something that doesn't work!!
This is ridiculous!!
