router drops randomly

Firmware version V1.0.0.32

sometimes this router just drops randomly. Only 1 light burns then which is the power light ( amber color ).  After a minute the router restores itself and i have internet again. This happens just 5-10 times a day and i have no idea how to fix this. The router is 7 months old ( bought it 10-08-2015 ). And i had no problems with it till i bought a new computer. My new laptop shouldnt be the problem i suppose, cuz it happens also when i just use the wifi on my phone.

Hope someone can help

  • ye i checked cables aswell, the power was correctly placed, aswell as ethernet cables. So might just be a loose connection somewhere in the router,

it still didnt drop since the reset, so i hope this will stay. If this problem does come back i might just send this router back to the shop i bought it from to get a new one

    Kind regards

    Hi JensB

    Welcome to the community!

I suggest that you reflash the firmware of the router.

Download the firmware once again and reset the router after.

To reset the router, push it for 10 seconds with a paperclip.

After the reset, reconfigure the router and observe the connection.

    Let us know what happens.

  • i did what you said, altho i found something interesting in the logs from the router itself. It says that the router was attacked by a ddos attack from some weird ip adress. Could this have something to do with it ? it happens multiple times in a like a time span of 5 minutes. i will check the logs later if my router goes down again. And if the attacks are back on the logs then that might be the problem

    kind regards

  • I am experiencing similar issues, seeing similar log messages. Unsure if these are true attacks or simply mis-interpretation by the firewall.

Also when experiencing connectivity issues, if i log into the router, on the Basic>Homepage it says the Internet is not connected, but on the Advanced>Home page in the Internet Port box it shows an IP address and it appears to be connected.

What I am wondering is if there are DNS issues going on with the router?

JensB Did you try to contact your ISP and ask for a new Internet IP address?

kbrewster Do you have the same model number of router?

In your case, try to reflash the firmware and then reset it after.

If you get the same thing, try using an older firmware.

By the way, don't forget to reset every after reflash or fw downgrade.
