Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Hi All,
Please post here for any update/issue related to the latest firmware 1.0.9.18.
You should review this and maybe revert back to this recommended version of FW:

Since I've flashed Tomato a few weeks ago I've forgotten that I have a router- it's working perfectly getting dust because i do not touch it at all :-)...
Parental control works perfectly, 0 drops, strong signal - save your time and do a similar thing!

I bought mine new about 2 weeks ago so I didnt have any experience on any other version of software but I did lose my connected home thermostate when moving to this new router. After about an hour of playing around, I found that if you back your max speed down to the middle selection (286?) you will be able to connect your older devices. I think the new max is 600mbps. on my old netgear the max was 500mbps. On the fastest setting the thermostate wouldnt "see" the 2.4Ghz network. As soon as I changed that setting it showed up, connected, and I havent had a drop since (about a week). Hope this helps.

UPDATE: I have been working with Netgear and running a newer version provided to me since Friday morning and have had no disconnects, wifi speed is great, running both 2.4G & 5G (using same SSID) and guest network. I also have Google home units & Echos. Hopefully this will lead to a released version of this or at least a broader Beta to test.
How many days have you been testing this version?
How severe were your issues before?

Did you realize that aabshire answered your question? Since Friday morning.

My fix I implemented has been solid for over a week, and I was dropping many times a day initially-
No factory resets, no downgrading firmware, just some looking into the settings.
Here is what I did-
Don't enable Smart Connect
Disable the SSID Broadcast of the 2.4 band. (currently testing to see if this is necessary)
Disable the 20/40 MHz Coexistence
Set channel manually (I picked 5, but currently testing to see if this is necessary)
I also have a 2.4 Guest SSID, it was dropping along with the 2.4 band originally, I didn't make any changes on that, and it has not experienced any drops since making the above changes to my main 2.4 SSID.
See if this works for you folks, if it does, here is a link to my GoFundMe.

Maybe if this fixes the issue for more than just myself, Netgear can just make a full $ amount donation for all the time/effort/lost customers I would have just saved them.
- I've been following this thread but I haven't commented as I dont seem to be effected with these problems.
My router is only a few months old.
I didn't feel comfortable running the old pre installed firmware so I upgraded to the latest firmware at the time (.14 I think).
I then installed Advanced Tomato as this was the reason k bought this router, after doing this all my Wi-Fi speeds slowed right down.
I played with all the settings but I couldn't get on with it.
I then went back to NG hotfix firmware (.20 I think) and do far it's been running perfectly.
The reason I thought I should make this post is because the router is running in a very wifi heavy environment.
There are:
Multiple Google homes.
Multiple Wifi CCTV.
Multiple Chromecast.
Multiple Android devices new and old.
Multiple Apple devices new and old.
Multiple wifi plugs.
Multiple laptops.
Multiple wifi printers.
And I have probably forgotten more .
When I did go back to the hotfix firmware I did do reboots after every change I made.
I also enabled QOS and let it update the manual configured the speed.
I hope this somehow helps and puts to rest that this is not a Google/android problem.

Woke up this morning to find my router shut itself down (or died) at 04:39 (GMT). Tried power cycling it and nothing lights up at all. Didn't have time to investigate further.
- wifiuser123AspirantI tried open source firmware and the problem had gone away completely. It had been about 5 days, and no connection drops yet.
Seperately Google devices on your network could be causing the connection dropout issues:. Please read the following post:

I have 2 Google Home mini's on the XRWT Vortex (latest) firmware and have had no problems with them. Not sure if this firmware is more robust or if it an interaction with NG firmware that is causing some problems.

Turns out my power supply had died, replaced it :smileyvery-happy: and now back to random dropouts :smileysad:
- MannyNAspirantPer this article, google home devices may be causing issues with routers, including Netgear.

For the folks involved in testing activities with netgear support, you may want to disconnect Google hone devices and test.- My Google Home and Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra are still up and running, only the changes mentioned in my previous posts were needed to fix the 2.4 GHz issue.
- HWAMApprenticeSTOP MENTIONING ABOUT GOOGLE HOME AND CHROMECAST IN THIS POST.
The problem here has nothing to do with the Google issue!!

I upgrade to this firmware after i have encountered the following problems
NAS synology connect to ethernet see all internal LAN but not connect to internet
All android device same problem, connect to internal LAN but not connect to internet
Downgrade firmware R7000 to V1.0.9.14_1.2.25 the problem has disappeared
the firmware 1.0.9.18_1.2.27 has problems
Regards
I am using V1.0.9.14_1.2.25 and have one Android phone with no drops.
Am not using anything Google.
Have 2 laptops running at 5GHz. One is on most of the day to listen to WCMU public radio. Nice clear all day until kids get home and we all start using the net. Then I get break in the radio.
Have iPad and 3 iPhones using 2.4GHz. And we use Wi-Fi to make phone calls, no problems.
- HWAMApprenticeAlpineKid66 Update to. 18 and you will be a happy person! NOT!!!! Haha.
Nobody is talking about this anymore??

I was wondering the same thing; seems like it has gotten quiet the past 24-36 hours.
I for one am still having the issues. I've been very patient. But it won't be long before I bail on Netgear.
- What more is there to say other that multiple people saying "me too".
It would actually be good if we heard from some people that are not affected by this so we could see how widespread it is.- lepa71Guide
If you think that Netgear will admit that fw has issues you are in the wrong universe
lepa71 wrote:If you think that Netgear will admit that fw has issues you are in the wrong universe
I thought I read that Netgear was asking some people to test some updated firmware. Maybe I read it wrong. If Netgear did get some people to test firmware, I guess it should be tested for a few days before Netgear releases that firmware.
I cannot get out of this universe because the Enterprise is broke.

I was never impacted by 2.4Ghz dropping out and not coming back. For me the internet seems to pause and my cameras on 2.4Ghz go temporarily offline, but then all comes back.
I saw this same behavior since late Dec, and see it now still with Asus-Merlin by Vortex. I am hoping the Google Home patches fix my issue.
Not muddying the water, just reponding as it was requested that people who don't have this issue reply to see how wide spread this is.
I hope everyone enjoys Vortex..... I love AB-Solution and Skynet...if you haven't heard of these and are running Vortex's build, check it out.
- Diggie3LuminaryI think many of us are done testing more and more settings changes, and just waiting for NG to post something official. I know I'm not investing any more time in it. Either they officially fix it or soon I'm replacing my devices with another brand, and that will be the end of it. Several people on the thread have already done so, or swapped to an unofficial firmware.

Hi All,
After a pb invitation, I upgraded firmware with a debug version. At the moment the disconnect problem occurred (within several hours) I uploaded the debug logs.
I quickly received another debug version of the firmware and uploaded that one yesterday.
Netgear is certainly working on it.
That version is running fine without any disconnect problems for more than 24 hours now.
Looks like they fixed the problem in that version.
See how it continues the coming days.
So far so good.
- TerryPhVirtuosoThey are working hard to debug FW for R8000
Possibly nailed out to a common root cause of problem
I have tested multiple trials FW sent from them, and they have good record of the debug logs.
Hopefully they are now in the right track to get it fixed.- HWAMApprenticeMy new Linksys wrt1900acs solved the problem and I will never buy a Netgear router ever again.
I had great expectations from Netgear Support but after a bunch of firmware versions PPPOE IPv6 is not working, I am forced to use the beta version 1.7.3 that i have received last year. Very very disappointed, worst support ever.
- And I have multiple Google/android devices and I'm not facing any of the problems people are having here
