Just bought a nighthawk x6 r8000 and can't get it to install
I hooked it up lick the quick start manual said. Powered up like it said. The genie setup started then went no where. So I finally told it I would setup myself. Now it won't take the user name and password off the bottom. What do I do?
had to call tech support. they had me go into the manual setup, and change the Mac setting too use my computers mac and restart the modem and router. worked like a charm.

Ok, making sure your ISP modems doesn't have a built in router. It doesn't.
The R8000 should connect up. Might swap out LAN cables between the router and ISP modem and try again.
I recommend you phone contact your regional NG support office for more help and information on this as well.
- Darkshadow1029AspirantIt's still not working. It keep saying problem detecting the inter connection. Choices are I just power cycled the modem. Or I corrected a problem with the Ethernet cable. I using one out of the box.

PC lan cable plugs into any of the 1 thru 4 black plugs in back. The Yellow plug is the LAN cable plug in from the ISP modem. Review the user manual on ports and usage.
- Darkshadow1029AspirantHow do a factory reset.
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Find the reset button on the back or under the router. Review the user manual for button location. Usually in back and marked as "reset".

Do a factory reset with the router and connect up a wired LAN cable PC to the router. Use IE11 or FF browser to set up the router as you walk thru the setup Genie wizard. It should work. Clear all browser caches before starting the web browser.
