R7000 Wrong Date/Time after firmware update
Dear all,
Last night I updated my firmware to Firmware Version V1.0.5.48_1.1.79. Unfortunately now the router is unable to update it's date and time. It stays on 01 Jan 2015.
I've reset the time zone, tried to change it to other time zone and then restore it back to mine, but unfortunately no effect. Tried to reset to router several times - no effect.
It's like this since last night.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Nick
I tried all the options given on different forums but no luck. Netgear support gave me beta V1.0.5.49_20151208_timesync firmware which fixed the issue.

Did you factory reset the router after the firmware update? If not then note down all non-default settings, maybe take screengrabs, then factory reset and re-enter settings manually.
If the problem persists then take a look at the router log shortly after powering up the router.

Dear Babylon5,
Thank you for your response. I did factory reset, but unfortunately that didn't help either.
Please see below my router log after the factory reset:

That’s interesting, there could be a few reasons why the NTP request might fail, but the log doesn’t give many clues as to why it failed in this case.
I will contact Netgear support to see if they are aware of this kind of problem.
It might be interesting if you were to revert to the last firmware version you used, if this syncs to the correct date/time then that would indicate that the NTP server is good.
- NikolayAspirantMine is showing 01 JAN 2015, but yours I beleive is running 8 days with the new firmware, that's why it's showing 08th Jan 2015.
Anyway, Netgear team should look deeper into the problem.

Hello guys! I decided to keep my router running FW version R7000-V1.0.3.80-1.1.38. I tried to run many other versions, but always with some sort of issues. The last FW update has a lot of features that I would like to use them, but when I downloaded that the router started to drop frequently a camera connection which is used for security purposes, so that I decided not to keep R7000-V1.0.6.28-1.1.83 version running. Even though I think the new version has security improvements, I'm going to pass. I've also noticed that the date and time is a cronic problem on this router specifically. There are lots of posts talking about it since the router has been released, nonetheless I'm anxious to update my router, but with a FW that really works.

Hi oseiasslompo,
Have perform a reset on the device after the firmware update?
- NikolayAspirant
Hi JamesGL,
Happy New Year.
Before making the update I did factory reset of the settings. After the firmware update I did factory reset of the settings again. Afterwards I enetered all settings manually. After that hard reset of the router for couple of minutes. Time zone updated too.
Problem is still there. Very strange. Even with the latest firmware (v. 1.0.6.28).

Nikolay

Same exact thing is happening to me! After the firmware upgrade it wouldn't update the time and would only reset to 01 Jan, 2015. No matter what I try I can't get the time to update accurately. Even tried doing a full factory reset on both my modem and the R7000 to no avail. I've also tried everything I could find in this thread and others on the site with no luck. I tried oseiasslompo's idea of reverting back to V1.0.3.80_1.1.38 and that seems to have fixed it for now. Guess I'll wait until netgear releases another firmware update to try again.

A few months on and still wrong time and date. Are there any updates on this problem yet?
- oseiasslompoAspirant
Hello Madmoggies!
The support solved it, but they didn't mention that here. They had been providing private support until it be solved under their private support program. They gave me a solution, but due to the contract I signed I can't spread it here. My appologies. If you have any problems with your router I encourage you to call them for support. They were very kind trying to help me.
- oseiasslompoAspirantHello madmoggies. I think I can assist you with your router's issues. Do you really need the ultimate features of your router? Until Netgear release a new FW version, you can upload the FW version R7000-V1.0.3.80-1.1.38. Of course you won't have all those new things available, but you can solve your problem for awhile. It helped me until Netgear was trying to fix that. If you want me to help you, just let me know.

Hello, after contacting Netgear support, agreeing to beta, downloading and applying V1.0.5.49_20151208_timesync firmware which is the version I was provided, I now have the right time on my router, and am able to apply a schedule. Thank you very much to Netgear support, I appreciate your help. Please be aware those of you with a similar issue that the latest firmware update did NOT fix this problem. V1.0.5.49_20151208_timesync firmware is considered an earlier version. I note that the firmware versions appear to all be different.
