r7800 cannot connect

Hello

I have bought a r7800 set up and turned on and I can't connect using said WiFi password.

Did factory reset still can't connect. And sometimes power led goes solid orange

  • Won't connect either by ethernet cable either. Won't connect via the link to the router given in the instruction manual.

    Any ideas

Is your R7800 new or previously owned?

What is the brand name and model number of the upstream modem/ONT your R7800 is connected to?

Need to make certain the firmware default reset was successful.  Firmware default reset is a two handed operation.  With the router powered on, you hold the device with one hand and use a toothpick to press and hold in the reset button on the back.  Hold the button in until the LEDs start to blink, then release it.  The router will then boot.  The reset button is recessed inside the case.  When the firmware default reset is successful, the router will broadcast Wi-Fi on the default SSIDs listed on the label.  The default password is also listed on the label.

The model number of the ONT would be very helpful to determine if it is a terminal only or a combination device with a router and Wi-Fi.  Does the ONT have more than one Ethernet output port?

That's worrying. What does  it look like now?

Could be a sign that the firmware is playing up.

If you can get into the thing, it might be worth reflashing the firmware.

The next step would be to throw TFTP at it.

Kitsap has covered just about everything else you are likely to come across.

    Does this get you anywhere?

I think the problem lies within not being able to connect at all.

Once I enter the WiFi password it just hangs on connecting.

When I click on information it says connect awaiting IP address and that's as far as it gets it never ever connects and says connected to the SSID

And on ethernet it just says not connection.

There can be various reasons for that.

What says "not connection"? What is the exact message?

        From what? A PC? Windows?

And the colour of that power LED?

Connecting from what wifi client and with what? A browser? An app?
