Readycloud App for Android Fails Upload of Photos Media to RN-104 NAS After 2,000 Files, Ver. 1.2.2

Have been testing out this app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It started out fine but after uploading of 2,100 (last I remember) the app fails. It will continue to try to complete the 103 files left to upload but not matter what I try, it just fails. I have cleared the cache, rebooted the phone and tried again, nothing works. Is there a file limit? I would not think so but I have seen something like this before somewhere in my experience.

Am using verison 1.2.2 app from Google Playstore. Not sure if there is a newer app. My phone is usually good about updates. Any comments or help would be appreciated. I like this app and it would be great if I could depend on it.

    Hi Pstreicher,

Your mobile app is up to date but not the device FW (we already have the official 6.4.2 and the Beta FW 6.5.0). With regard to the file limit, I'm not sure if there's one. I may have to ask or consult my colleagues about it.

    Kind regards,

      Hi BrianL,

I only find this that says anything about large transfers in this latest FW6.4.2. Will have to do the update today and test to see if it has any effect on the RN104 here.

'14. Improved RN2120's stability with large transfers.'

        BrianL,

Nope. Just performed the FW update which took a few minutes, rebooted and all good. Opened the ReadyNas app and attempted the media backup and still getting the failed error as it tries over and over to do. I just went into the app settings and tried changing the cache size to 4096mb, makes no difference. I have 5gb available on the Samsung Note 3 at this time also. Now I've tried different cache size settings and still get the same thing. I'm out of ideas today. Maybe next I will try to offload some files to free up more space on this Note 3. Will report back!

        Thanks,

        Paul

I read that article and then looked at all the files from the 'camera' directory and none of them had that issue. The app lets you select different folders or all so i tried a different folder but that didn't get anywhere. It amazes me that an app can be put out into the public with little to no documentation and then on top of that is buggy as all get out. The wife has a Galaxy S5 so I'm thinking next I will try this app with her phone just to see if I get any different result. Will be back!

        Hi Pstreicher,

Hope you've responded to kohdee question via PM. Let us know the result after you've tested your wife's phone (ensure it'll be the same scenario).

        Kind regards,

Kohdee, Did you see my reply to your post? I've successfully completed backing up my wife's Galaxy S5 using the app. She had just under 2,000 camera files. I have restarted my Note 3 and attempted to complete a backup but the app fails with 109 files to go. It will try over and over and fail repeatedly. I'm still thinking there is a file limit of 2,000 but have yet to prove this or not. My next test will be to delete or move 109 picture files and restart the app and see what happens. Will be back!

Here's what I did just a bit ago. Since Google had my photos backed up to their cloud I went ahead and let Google delete all the camera photos from my phone. When I ran the app and clicked on the backup button it immediately showed as completed. So, for now I am to believe there is a file limit. I did not find any files with 'nopm' in the file name. I am done with this app for now as I have other more important things to do then kick this dead horse. There has to be a better way to get your photos under control and organized and that'll be my new goal to find a way to do this. Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions.

    I'll try and confirm a number-of-file limitation.
