How to increase max upload size for piwigo

I tried asking this question in the piwigo forums since it seems to be a common complaint that the max size for uploading files is 2 MB. There wasn't much help as soon as "ReadyNAS" was mentioned, the response basically being "nothing to do with us it's a setting on the ReadyNAS box".

So I looked around and found how to change this. It's quite simple once you know how. But you do have to enable and use SSH (if you don;t know what that is or how to use it, then it;s probably best to stop there as playing around with it could lead to issues and you are warned about enabling it). On the assumption you know what you're doing... read on..

You need to modify php.ini - you will find the keywords "upload_max_filesize" and "post_max_filesize". These were set to 2M and 8M respectively in my case - piwigo uses the "upload_max_filesize" setting. So you can increase that up to "post_max_filesize". In other words, up to 8M - if you want more than 8M then you have to increase both values.

The file itself (php.ini) is located at /etc/php5/apache2

I used vi to modify it, then you have to restart the ReadyNAS box (you might be able to just restart piwigo but I couldn;t find that part out).
