Under System > Settings > Services click the SSH button and confirm you want to enable SSH.

The user for SSH is root and the password is initially set to be the same as the admin password at the time SSH is enabled.

The RN102 is not Sparc. It is ARM.

The RN102 uses the arm .deb files for R6.

You don't use SSH to install these. Rather go to Apps and click on the Upload button near the right of the page and upload the .deb file.
  • O.K. thank you and sorry for the confusion,
Does anyone know how can i access the shell of the O.S.
I want to install a mail server and the iredmail app which i found to the apps tab asks for a name and password after the installation,a problem without solution for my knowledge
Well i prefer a shell of the O.S. and the version of debian
Does anyone know how can i access the shell of the O.S. and the debian version

You can enable ssh via system->settings (its listed under "services").

Then use something like putty to connect to the NAS. Login is "root", the initial password is the same as the admin password.

You should contact the app developer for the default login details for an app.

You could also try credentials such as admin/password to see if they work.
  • Thank you,but
i have tried with a ssh console command(from my SUSE) and after reading your answer with putty
the answer it's always the same password not accepted.
The last few days i am getting alert e-mail's from the device warning me about root file-system without free space (85-92%,etc),i already contacted the Netgear-support but the steps for remote
administration are too complicated.I prefer not to reboot/reformat the system.
    Any ideas
    Sorry for your time

If you just leave it the problem will only get worse.

I would suggest you do as support suggested. If the steps are too complicated do you have a tech-savvy friend who could help you?

Don't think it would be a good idea to download the logs though when it is this full.
  • Right now i am very far from anybody with the know-how and i have big problems with the internet communication.
I am trying to unistall as much applications i can (perhaps also disable some protocols ??), in lust i am worry only about my data.
It's not possible to know space dedicated to the root, file-system and so on.....
  • Thank you for your concern,
i am doing a "backup" using command-line to a usb device attacked to my desktop.
When that it's done, i am thinking of try a few things (p.e. grsync) and then factory reset the device , at the end what i have to loose, only time maybe
I will configure the e-mails alerts only for temperature ,after all it's hot in this land
