15 Files Changed

Hi There,

Just acquired a ReadyNas 104, and looking for a bit of advice on the ReadyCloud App, for which I can't find an answer to in any documentation or on this forum.

System has been set up about 2 weeks now, and after a bit of head scratching it seems to be working how I expect. I have sync'd up my Windows 10 laptop to it, & also sync'd up my Daughters Mac book, and my Android smart phone, all to different folders.

The issue (well it might not be an issue!) is that every time I fire up or wake up my Windows 10 laptop, after a few minutes the ReadyCloud App (It is set to start with Windows) gives a notification stating "15 Files Changed".  Now as I said it is always states 15 files, no more, no less.  Clicking on the notification usually brings up different sub-folders.  From my Daughters Mac book it seems to advise a different number of files each time, & often greater than 15.  All the folders for the Mac book are set to sync, on the Windows laptop I have 2 folders set to sync & 1 set as backup.

The ReadyNas is 6.4.1 with 2 x 4 TB disks & the ReadyCloud app is 1.8.1223.376.

So, is this normal behaviour, or have I missed or set something on the Folders on the ReadyNAS thats causing this 15 Files message?

Thanks in anticipation of any pearls of wisdom.

Paul.

    Hello Hillbill,

    Welcome to the community!

Surely it is not normal when the actual number of files changed/added does not match the notification you get.

I can try to test here. You might also want to check this with the support center team so they will remote in to the computer with you for them to see and perhaps resolve or narrow down the causes.

    Regards,

      Hi JennC,

Thank you, and thanks for replying.

That's the thing I can't understand, intially I thought it may be a limitiation on the number of files it was sync'ing on initial set-up, but It looks like all files & folders are now fully sync'd up, and the notifications seem to be for sub-folders in the folder i'm using for My Documents, but when you look at the app it states that folder is all up to date,  (The music folder is still syncing, but that is the largest folder (87GB)

The sync is working as new files are added almost instantaneously to the ReadyNAS & can be access from other computers & the ReadyCloud.  I did have some teething problems setting it all up, including with my ReadyCloud account, but managed to work through those with answers found on here & in the documents, but this 15 files thing is a bit of a head scratcher at the moment!

      Thanks,

      Paul.

        Hi Hillbill,

        I understand, that's really puzzling.

I'm not able to try it here, I'm behind a strict firewall now. I guess it is best you check this with the support team, take advantage of your free phone support. They can remote in to your computer with you on the line and probably have the case escalated to higher tier if they cannot figure out what this 15 files message really is.

        Regards,

  • Hi Matt16,

    I still have the issue!

I was given the v1.9 client, but still get the 15 files changed message. My file structure looks similar to yours, clicking on the notification now seems to always take me to the same folder which only had 5 files in it. However the sync does appearing to be working correctly.
Support are due to contact me again later in the week to have a remote session. I'll update this thread with any news.

    Regards,
    Paul

      Any news?

I am looking at the photo's directory and "thumb.db" files are in many folders.  They seem to be updated quite regularly, as the "file modified" field is current (o near current).   Maybe these are the files that you see updated regularly.
