  • Netgear hasn't offered a replacement service for ReadyCloud (and I don't expect them to).

There are a couple of paths:

    1. Get a router that has a built-in VPN service that allows remote access.  Netgear's Orbi and Nighthawk routers include OpenVPN - which is what I use for remote access.  There are free apps for Android, iOS, Windows, and MacOS.
    2. Install ZeroTier on the NAS.  This also has free client apps.  This is what Sandshark uses.

        In 6.10.10, they

        • totally removed ReadyCloud (IMO, good)
        • removed the ability to install apps from the web ui (IMO, not good)
        • changed the apt config (IMO, not good, but reversible)

So no new way to access the NAS remotely.
