Hi, I have 4 hard drives and a readynas rn31400, you can make 2 raid1?

    HD1+HD2= raid1-1 and hd3+hd4=raid1-2?

    Thank you

Yes.  You'd switch to flexraid after the initial setup, and destroy the RAID-5 (xraid) volume.  There's no need to wait for the volume sync to complete.

Then you can select the first two drives, and create a RAID-1 volume; and repeat that process with the second two drives.

I suggest that you read through chapter 2 in the software manual first - http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/READYNAS-100/READYNAS_OS_6_SM_EN.pdf

      2 x raid 1 that would be 2 volumes/arrays of raid 1

      how about raid 10?

Yes, that would be another option.
