How do you setup the RadyNas 314 with a static IP address?

  • Login to the GUI, navigate to the Network tab. 

    There you will see the network adapter, click on the small Settings cog, select settings, then IP4 and change the settings according to your needs.

    DHCP with reserved IP addresses is usually preferable.

     

  • IP address for NAS is a router area of responsibility. Correct way is to assign static IP address to NAS on router side. Modern routers are able to assign static IP address based on MAC address from NAS. This IP address should be from dynamic range of router IP addresses. In this case NAS should use dynamic IP configiration based on DHCP and NAS will not be aware - his dynamic address is static.

      I agree that this is a better approach.  Netgear routers call this feature "address reservation".

       

      The benefits include

      -it is easier to avoid accidental IP address conflicts

      -if you switch routers or change your router's address range, the NAS remains accessible.

       

      Though the NAS will let you set up a static address if you wish.
