NV+ Fan
Hi all
I'm finding the fan in the NV+ a little bit too noisy for my liking
So I was thinking about replacing it
I have looked into the specs of the stock fan and here is what I found out

Model: AGE09225_12L (B: two ball bearing)
Rated Voltage: 12
Operating Voltage Range: 7.0~13.2
Rated Current: 0.11A
Rated Speed: 2450RPM
Maximum Airflow: 1.27m3/min 44.8CFM
Maximum Static Pressure: 2.9mm-H2O 0.11In-H2O
Sound Level: 30.0dBA
Weight: 79g

So I've been digging around and I can't seem to find many 92mm fans that can push out 44.8CFM and has a lower sound level than 30dBA
So what I decided to do was look into adapting a 120mm fan onto the back of it using a 92mm to 120mm adapter
And it turns out someone has beaten me to it http://www.flickr.com/photos/fjetland/3253453489/
So I found the CoolerMaster 120mm SickleFlow Fan 2000RPM - http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_510&products_id=8135
Is there anything I need to worry about? This fan does consume a bit more watts and amps
Assuming the motherboard of the NAS controls the fan it shouldn't have an issue controlling this fan right?

- PapaBear1ApprenticeI can't help you as my NV+ is still running the original fan and it has never bothered me. In fact the drives are louder than the fan. As long as it is the same connector on both fans, then it should control it to some extent. There have been some discussions about this in the past, but I don't have links to them. You can try searches. Of course it does void the warranty if you still have any.
- funkyfrAspirantHi,
I just replaced mine with a noctua B9
http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=16&lng=en&set=1
Only 17.6dB @ max speed
CPU is at 32°C and my 4 drives at 25°c
I highly recommend upgrading with this fan 8)
edit: on cpu load and file transfer
CPU @ 36°C and drives 35°C - TieNN89AspirantWhoops forgot to reply to this
I ended up replacing it with the Noctua NF-P12 120mm fan with a 92mm to 120mm fan adapter
I was going to go the B9 but wasn't sure if the air flow was enough so I decent to go that route instead
Last I checked the CPU was around 38C and the HDD was around 36C this is a few mins into it transferring files and in a room that is sitting around 30C and I'm expecting my room to get even hotter as the summer approaches
