NV+ v2 Loud Fan after Firmware Upgrade

After upgrading the firmware to 5.3.6, the fan in my unit randomly decides to go full blast.

The disks and the unit always sit at around 40 deg c, but the unit decides that it is hot and blasts the fan at 3400 RPM. After about 15 minutes it decides its not hot anymore and goes back to a normal 1000 RPM (or so).

It never did this before the firmware upgrade. I would understand if it was doing this under any sort of load, but it does it even if the disks are spun down. The difference in temperature before and after it runs is literally 2 degrees (maybe 41 down to 39 on the hard disks and system).

Any suggestions to resolve this? Should I just put a quieter fan in?

Thanks

  • Hi i have the same Problem with my ReadyNAS NV+ v2... I have 1TB,1TB,2TB,2TB Disks inside. Disk are no hotter than around 40 degrees celcius.

Even if the disks spun down the FAN runs at 1365rpm... Sometimes it spuns up to 2800rpm for now reasons for hours..

I already did, OS Reinstall, Factory Reset, Disabled Genie Stuff etc... I dont know what to do.

Which FAN exactly should i buy if i want to swap it ?
