ReadyNAS 312 disk trays
Am I missing a trick with the 312 disk trays? Hard drives won't just snap in and "instructions" are useless.
The trays that came with the unit have posts on a 3-sided plastic insert that would go into the drive's side screw holes, but there's no indication (other than what looks like a tiny "push here" arrow) how to get the one-piece insert out of the metal tray. Pushing on it didn't budge anything and there are no obvious release tabs.
Glad I had spare trays from a NV+ I could use with the enclosed screws.

We have a video on this:
We also have instructions in the Hardware Manual and in the KB:

Note that the plastic inserts can be removed - and use mounting screws in the bottom of the tray (just like the NV+). That's also in the instructions.
You need to remove them with 2.5" drives. Also, some disks (notably 8-10 TB models) don't have center holes in the right position for the plastic inserts.
If you do need to remove them, it's good to store them for future use.
