ReadyNAS Device Compatibility List

- midspaceAspirantHi, a quick question.
Is Netgear/ReadyNas looking at certifying the new 4TB drives?
Specifically the WD4000FYYZ (WD RE 4TB) on the Readynas Pro Business Edition (4.2.22).
I have 2 bays free on my Pro, and these 4TB drives look tempting to fill those spaces along side the 2TB drives currently in the existing 4 bays.
Unless you can specifically rule out the 4TB drives ever working, then I can go get some 3TB drives on the list instead. - SoulkeeperAspirantI bought four WD20EARX drives because it was listed on the compatibility list for NV+. They don't work.
When I inserted all 4 disks and reset the NV+ to factory settings, the NV+ churned for hours, then said "bad disk".
When I inserted 1 disk, it seemed to work. When I tried to expand xraid later with one or more additional drives, the NV+ churned for some hours and then said "kernel panic".
When I tried to insert all 4 disks and format as RAID5, the NV+ churned for more than two days, then it said "bad disk".
I don't have time for this, so I'm giving up the NV+, buying a newer/better/faster NAS instead.
An old XP computer has no problems mounting the disks.
NetGear might want to consider removing this disk from the compatibility list. - medimusAspirantI just bought an Eaton 3S UPS 700VA, that is not listed in the Compatibility list, but it works fine with my ReadyNas Duo (v1). You could add it to the compatible UPS-es, as well as the smaller version with 550 VA.
- nvplusAspirantI also have been caught by same problem. We have a ReadyNAS NV+ and my supplier does not have any other replacement disc for it than a ST1000NM0011 which does not appear on the Netgear HCL. Does anyone know if it is compatible with the NV+ and if it possible to mix this disc with the current ST31000340AS (I think) discs?
The supplier also said that it would be compatible while reffering to "Netgears QVL, 5010462056". Anyone knowing what it reffers to?
/nvplus - ianrenAspirantAs a relative newbie, please can I enquire as to how frequently the compatibility lists are updated?
I have recently had the need to consider upgrading hard drive capacity on my ReadyNAS Duo, and found that many of the drives listed are now no longer available, and their replacements are not listed either. - bennettswebAspirantNot cool - now my NAS has 4x drives which were, but no longer on the HCL. NG owes owners an explanation.

They seem to be removed from the Pro-6 list also. Given that Netgear denies support for drives not on the list, it seems to me that it is a huge problem for folks when Netgear takes them off later.rollercoaster wrote: I have recently purchased a NV+ v2 and looking to fill it with 3TB drives.
If I am not mistaken early this week there were 2x Western Digital 3TB drives listed in the Compatibility list but now they dont appear ?
Can someone confirm ?
Many thanks

Maybe one of the Jedi can comment? - rollercoasterAspirantI have recently purchased a NV+ v2 and looking to fill it with 3TB drives.

Check out this image, it give a fairly good view of how DIN-mounted devices looks like, with four devices each taking a unit each:

There are plenty of compatible rackmountable UPS units available.
