ReadyNAS Device Compatibility List

- doshuAspirantI was in fact thinking about a RAID inside the main PC too, just in case... but it might be a bit overkill after all, a good WD Green 1/2/3GB (not decided yet) will probably be safe enough if it is backed up on the NAS something like twice a day. I'm working from home (PhD ongoing), and losing days of research is not something I want to experience ever :p.
Thanks for the insights ;) - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserNo need for the main PC to use RED drives, unless you are running RAID on it (not sure exactly what you mean by 2x1Go).
I agree they cost somewhat more than the green drives, but they are a lot cheaper than enterprise drives. And the longer warranty to some degree offsets the price differential.
As you check out your options, I suggest searching these forums for the model you are considering. - doshuAspirantThank you for your advice, but the RED WD are way more expensive, and since I want to buy 4 of those (2x2Go for the NAS, 2x1Go for the main PC) it quickly adds up... However, after checking on the Internet about this, WD does indeed warn against RAID usage of Green HDDs. I read elswhere it works fine, but in the end the warranty won't apply if WD knows you've been RAIDing the disks. Bummer.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou'd be better off with the WD20EFRX. It has similar (or better) specs and a longer warranty.
WDC doesn't recommend the WD20EZRX for RAID. - doshuAspirantHello everyone,
I will get a ReadyNAS Duo V2 very soon, I was expecting to be able to use 2 Western Digital Green 2TO WD20EZRX in it. The are exactly what I want for HDDs in terms of MTBF, size, silence and price... so it's pretty annoying that they are not in the compatibility list, when the 3TO EZRX and the 2GO EARS are in it. Has anyone tried this WD20EZRX with the Duo V2? If I take them anyway, they should work nonetheless, right? Or is it pretty much assured I will run into some kind of problem?
Thanks :) - BBITZAAspirantDear NetGear ...
Your ReadyNas Duo V2 HWCL is seriously not accurate.
The following drives DO NOT WORK with ReadyNas Duo v2 RAIDiator 5.3.7 (ARM) :
Manufacturer : Seagate
Model : ST2000DM001
PartNumber : 9YN164-306
FirmWare : CC4H
Manufacturer : Seagate
Model : ST2000DM001
PartNumber : 1CH164-301
FirmWare : CC24
I have now wasted enough of my time and money trying to make drives listed on your HWCL work when clearly they don't. - etonLuminaryAnother vote for Hitachi Deskstar 5K3000 HDS5C3020ALA632 2TB for ReadyNAS Duo v1.
Western Digital Red WD20EFRX 64MB 2TB also looks very promising with TLER. - rosesnowmAspirantI would think that HP would work. What Windows version are you using?
- chirpaLuminaryYou'll probably need to contact NTGR Support if you want any kind of answer to that. The QA HCL guys haven't been on the forums since last June.
- dresden007AspirantWill 4Tb drives be on hardware compatibility list soon for Readynas Pioneer Pro? Seems like the 4 Tb drives have been out for a while and I don't want to buy six 3 Tb drives when firmware may be coming out to support 4 Tb drives. Someone please help! Thanks, Ryan
