- dbsxAspirantHey Stephen,
thanks for the fast reply.
It looks like that I need to read the XRAID2 explanation again.
My current setup is 2x WD4001FAEX (4TB) + 1x WD20EZRX (2TB) in an XRAID2.
Just verified, I cannot add the WD20EARS (2TB) nor the 7200.11 (1.5TB) Barracuda to this XRAID2.
Must be some other constellation were I got the Barracuda working. I was playing around with different disks before I had the above setup installed.
So I assume, that I need an HDD that is larger than 2TB to expand my XRAID2, right?
Cheers
dbsx - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou can't add a 2 TB drive since you started with 4 TB drives.
Are you sure the error was because the drives weren't on the HCL? What size was the barracuda? Did you actually add it, or did you do a factory reset with the seagate in place? - dbsxAspirantHey guys,
I've bought me a RN314 with two WD4001FAEX drives. My plan was, to migrate two of the HDDs (WD20EARS) I used in my NV+ before, to the RN314.
I know, that they are not on the compatibility list, but the data is not that important. I would take the risk that I will get a problem sometime in the future.
Unfortunately it is not possible to get them added to the XRAID2, because it recognizes that the drive is not supported. The funny point is that it's NO problem to add a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 to the XRAID2 which is also not supported.
Is there any way I can get the WD20EARS HDDs to work in the RN314 (running OS6.1.5).
Cheers
dbsx - cbgiffordAspirantI noticed that external esata expansion chassis are missing from this list. I have an RN314 and I will soon run out of space on it. However, I would like to avoid paying $750 retail for the EDA500 when the RN314 was less than that. I am sure I could get it cheaper shopping around...but...
Has any one hooked up a multi drive esata-chassis to the 300 or 500 series with any success? If you have please share your results! :D - SmartsysAspirantI own a ReadyNAS 316 with 4 SATA disks at this moment.
This is used as a low power, low cost home lab with VMware (iSCSI connected).
I need more disk performance and thinking of adding two SSDs to gain more speed.
At this moment only one SSD is on the HCL and this is hard to get in The Netherlands.
When will more SSD drives, like the Intel SSD Pro 1500, Intel SSD DC S3500 or the Samsung 840 Evo be added to the HCL? - mushtecAspirantI have a NETGEAR ReadyNAS NV+ with two WD RE4-GP 2TB (WD2002FYPS) configured to RAID1
I want to upgrade the two spare bays with another two 2TB hard drives, the only drive I can find on the compatibility list that my supplier has in stock is WD2002FAEX which are for power computing applications
Can anyone tell me if the WD2003FYYS will work? I would prefer to have RAID Edition hard drives to match the existing WD RE4-GP I have at the moment - WokingWoundedAspirantSeagate ST32000542AS
I installed two of the above 2TB drives in my NV+ in March 2010. By August 2011 I had claimed a warranty replacement for one of them which had failed. In August 2012 I was getting log messages saying that the other drive was failing SMART tests. However, Seagate said it was OK because the SeaTools test said so. So I put it back in and waited. It fully failed last month....by which time it was out of warranty (of course!).
BUT. If you like a happy ending read on. I politely pointed out the irony of the situation to Seagate and...they agreed to give me a warranty replacement!! Persistence and politeness can work. Let's just see how long the replacements last (although the second I'm keeping as a spare)...... Not sure how much this helps anyone since ST32000542AS are discontinued and the remaining two bays were expanded with 2TB ST2000DL003s in August 2011 and April 2012 - so far no problems. - QueondaAspirantThank you!!!!!

- QueondaAspirantI'm looking on the Hard disk hardware compatibility list: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641
I have a Ultra 6 RNDU6000-100NAS (i think). but I don't understand the naming convention in the drop down list.
