- JohnNultyApprenticeAnother potential candidate for the ReadyNAS Duo compatible memory list:
PNY 1GB PC2700 333MHz DDR SODIMM, Part No. MN1024SD1-333
http://www3.pny.com/product1.aspx?Product_ID=2692&Category_ID=384&
I bought a stick a few days ago, have run the memory test (OK) and have been testing throughput - so far not a single glitch.
Not my first choice for memory, but time was against me and I happened to be in a local Best Buy :o
If I notice any problems I'll repost. - MilesTEG1AspirantWhat is the benefit of adding RAM on the ReadyNAS Duo ?

The standard amount of RAM (256MB on the 2150) was not enough to prevent HDD cacheing when using as a fileserver - it was taking forever to upload my data to it. I swapped it for a 1GB stick, and the think now 'flies' 8)
Just my experience (I'm a noob of two weeks) - MilesTEG1AspirantOk. So it is interresting to extend memory :)
I should think about of this ^^ - gazelleAspirantThe hard drive hcl seems to have some conflicting information regarding compatability of wd drives.
In the 500gb and 750gb lists, there are listing for compatible drives with a ABYS suffix. In the
incompatibility notes. Western Digital JS/KS/YD/YS are not recommended.
It would be helpful, if these notes were also reviewed to make sure there is no conflicting information in
it.
Also in the footnotes for the seagate drives, is it the SN04 revision or the NS04 revision that is being referred to?
There are no SN listed drives, but there are NS drives listed.
Thanks, - derekb77Aspirantcompatibility list from the first post is gone? can someone point me to it?
...... never mind found it .

Thanks,
The note for the JS/KS/YD/YS is for old drives that end exactly with only these letters, for example WD 500GB JS.
On the Seagate note this is the firmware of the drive not the part model number. - Victor0071AspirantHi all,
Could you add samsung hard drive to the compatibility list ?
zerta and me use Samsung 750 Go (SpinPoint F1 HD753LJ 750 Go) since one month without problems.
Zerta had one in a RND2000 and I have 2x HD753LJ in RAID1.
A another contributor, Mikkra, use 2x Samsung Spinpoint F1 1000 Go - 32 Mo (HD103UJ )
Link in the regional forum here
Thx in advance.
(sorry for my poor english)
Victor - K1LL3MGuideI have just upgraded the ram in my Pro to 4gb using OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Platinum 4GB Edition Dual Channel that I had on hand.
The Pro booted and recognised the memory in frontview.
Currently running a memtest and will post back on results, but for anyone interested these modules so far appear to be compatible.
Edit 12 hour/11 Pass memtest resulted in 0 errors. All looks good. - jmannAspirantI've just upgraded my Duo with a Kingston KVR333X64SC25/1G module and it appears to work fine.
I've not yet run a memory test, but there have been no operational glitches so far.
