ReadyNAS Duo V2 No Volume. Please help me.

Hi

Been trying to solve the problem myself but failed all the way :(

After moving house my readynas duo v2 can't see any volume. It has 3TB Seagate disks inside with no Raid so all 6TB is used without backup. All was working fine for over a year. I'm 100% sure that there was no mechanical damage, hit or drop to the unit and drives must be in same working conditions as they were before.

I found out its a common problem with them but couldn't find any solution. I don't want to lose any data on them. Is there a way of fixing it ?? Please help me.

    Contact support.

In future I would recommend that you backup your data. No important data should be stored on a single device.

Furthermore if your data is important to you RAID-0 and JBOD are bad choices. RAID-1 and X-RAID with multiple disks provide some protection against a disk failure.
  • What is wrong with helping me here ??

Been on a phone with support and no joy. I'd probably end up binning this server as its useless and will boy something better.
  • This isn't Netgear support, it is a community forum.

You can power down the unit and check the drives on a PC with Seatools. That would confirm their status.

If you have a spare disk, you can insert it (by itself) in the duo v2, and see if the NAS does an install on the spare disk. That would confirm that the NAS hardware is working properly.
  • Thank You for suggestions. Will try everything you said and will see what happens.
