Readynas NV+ : Fan plug is burned...
Hello there,
I just had a very weird situation :
last friday I received alerts from the nas telling me temp issues and the fact the fan was no longer connected.
When I came back home the nas was off. I rebooted it to check the HDs were ok and turned if off.
The fan was not running.
I opened it, cleaned the dust. And unplugged the fan.
I replaced it with another fan and turned on : not working.
I used an external 12V adapter and both fans were running fine.
So conclusion : no more power on the fan plug on the Main board.... How is that possible ?
Right now the work around : I derivated the power for the fan on the external adapter (running almost full speed). But I would love to have a more reliable solution for my NV+

- You subject says the fan plug is burned. Is the connector on the backplane board in fact burned or just not working?
In either case, if your unit is still under warranty, then you should open an on line tech support case. If your unit is an Infrant, it is out of warranty unless the PSU has gone bad. - Purchase date: Oct 18, 2008

The plug is not physically burned, it's just not supplying energy.
I tried with other fans and they were not working.
So far I have the fan supplied externally thru a 12v adapter, running full speed, and having 30°C in the NAS (which is good fur coming summer).
I'll have a chat with Netgear Support to see how to fix the problem.
