ReadyNas NV+ and iphone 4s
Hi,
I have recently bought a readynas NV+ which works well with everything in the hjouse, laptops, ps3 etc. However, i can not get it to pair with the iphone or android phone. Readynas remote just will not let me log in,. i have tried other applications to connect but also these do not work.
Please help. I have been searching on google for some time with no joy. I bought the Ready nas about a month ago and have had no luck with any phone i have tried to connect to it.
Kind regards
Andy

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAre you running a V2?
es file manager works will with my pro and v1 for Android access - this uses FTP. - hedgemonkAspirantThanks for the reply Stepen,
No it's not a V2 it's just an NV+
I have enabled FTP access and all the laptops and the Playstation is working fine on it. Just can not even sign into the the ReadyNAS on either android phones or the iphone.
I've tried everything, even downloading several different apps that are supposed to be able to connect to it but no joy as yet.
Any suggestions? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWith Android I've had good luck with ES File Manager (as noted above). For use over the cellular network (or while away from home): Part of the puzzle is configuring a suitable port range on the ReadyNAS and forwarding those ports in your router. Also you would want a dynamic DNS name for your router. Though if it works with your laptops, that is probably already in place?
We don't have iPhones, so I can't speak to that.
ReadyNAS Remote is also supposed to work, though I haven't used it in quite a while (and there are some recent posts here indicating that it is not working properly at the moment). - hedgemonkAspirantThanks again for the reply. Really appreciated.
OK, i'll give ES File Manager a try. I may well be asking a few questions about port forwarding soon but will see how it goes.
Kind regards
Andy - hedgemonkAspirantThanks for the reply,
Ok, so we're having some problems with es file explorer. I'm totally confused as to why it's not working. I guess it has something to do with the port range as you said earlier. Any suggestions as to what they should be configured to?
Thanks again
Andy
sprry i haven't got back to you in a while. someone decided to crash into the side of my motorbike. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI have the NAS configured to use 5 ports - one control, and 4 passive. All of these are specified in the NAS configuration.
Ideally the passive ports are in the range 49152-65535. You can either assign the control port to that range also (which is what I do), or use the default port 21.
You also need to get a dynamic dns name that will reach your home router (dyndns is one service that can create that). To test the setup, you can use your home router's external (ISP-assigned) address. However, that will change so you will want a name that always works,
Assume for the moment that you are using 49160 for the control port and 49161-49165 for the passive ports. The full port range (49160-49165) needs to be forwarded to the NAS in your router.
the FTP server you configure in ES File Manager has
Server set to the ddns name
Port set to 49160
Mode set to passive
Username to a NAS user name
password to the corresponding password
encoding can remain "click to set"
