ReadyNas NV+ data loss
If anybody can help, much appreciated.
Had a call from customer saying NAS drive had died, has 2 x 1Tb drives in X-Raid.
Ran RaidAr, to try and get access, would see the unit, but not the drives.
Took the drives out, and put them into another working unit, and they have spent 8 hours synchronising.
However once finished, not data is viewable, cannot see anything on the drives.
It also (new unit), ran a firmware upgrade, and now the drives are not accessable in the old unit, get a error message on trying to boot.
Have tried to attach one drive (the worker) of the 2 into a windows 7 PC using an external USB HDD adapter, however stopped as it asked to import the disc, did not want to jepordise the data.
Any ideas on how to get the data back????

- bbaraniecLuminaryTaking out both drives and letting sync was mistake, you should only pull out the corrupted (dead) drive. You can't just mount ReadyNas drive under Windows. It wont be recognized due to other file system. I would suggest to take the good drive hook it into Linux machine and mount it.
ReadyNas is using LVM, so you will need at least basic skills and knowledge to get it working. When you confirm that you still have data on that drive put it back into Duo and boot. You should be able to access FrontView and shares and then you should put another drive in order to rebuild you array. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Normally moving the drives to a like ReadyNAS would work fine (with the ReadyNAS powered down when you insert the drives). Is it possible that you somehow put drive 1 into the drive 2 slot (and vice versa)? Or perhaps the second unit was not another NV+?guycarr360 wrote: Took the drives out, and put them into another working unit, and they have spent 8 hours synchronising.

However it happened, I suggest opening a support case for this. Alternatively find a local company that specializes in data recovery (let them know that this is from a ReadyNAS). Also it would be prudent to recommend to the customer that they should have a backup plan in place. - guycarr360AspirantJust a quick update, if i put either of the 2 drives into either bay, in either NV+, i get a Bad Firware error when they try to boot.
Drives were also moved across when the unit was off.
New Nas boots fine with its 2 new drives, can i put the worker from the other nas into slot 3, and try and interogate??
If their is no way that will work, any names of good data recovery companies???
