- platini76Aspirantonly hitachi? noone have an experience with ST3000VN000 or ST4000VN000???
if possible I want to mount Seagate green - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIf you use disks that aren't on the HCL, then Netgear can/will deny support for disk-related issues.
Many people do go that route anyway, though I haven't heard much here on the ST4000VN0000. I have good experiences with the WDC 3 TB red drives (so I would suggest you consider them along with the ST3000VN000). - platini76Aspirantwhat do you suggest as best disks? I have all seagate... and I found very well in those years, no 1 broken. about WD and Hitachi I don't know anything.
about seagate it is better 7200, 5900 green , or constellation / XT ?
I don't want to waiste my money but I want to have good disks.
in previous nv+ I had 2 500gb seagate ST3500320AS - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou will find a variety of opinions here on drives. A few years back I started seeing very high failure rates on various Seagate drives (the internal ones were mostly ST31500341AS, but I had several USB drives fail also).
After that I switched to Western Digital. So far I've had a very good experience with the WDC Reds (I have 7 installed, 5 in the Pro-6, and 2 in the RN102). They have reasonable performance, run very cool - indicating that they are quite green. Though they haven't been out long enough to know how they will work out longer term.
Be sure to search the forum for whatever model you choose, as some drives don't seem to play that well with the ReadyNas (including some that are on the HCL). - platini76AspirantWD30EFRX do you suggest them? my reseller suggest them to me.
thanks! - vandermerweMasterWhat readynas do you have, your profile says you have an NV. An NV or NV+ will not take discs larger than 2 tb.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe thread title indicates that platini76 has a Pro 4 as well. The Pro 4 supports disks larger in capacity than 2TB.
- vandermerweMasterYes indeed, no harm in checking with OP.
- platini76Aspirantsorry, profile updated, I have bought a Pro since 2 days.
