ReadyNAS X6 not showing up in RAIDar
I've had an X6 for some time (obviously), and it's worked great forever. It's our primary file server. I went to use it today and the shares had disappeared. I pulled up RAIDar and it's not showing up. I went downstairs and took a look at it... all 4 disk lights are on solid, the activity light is not blinking at all, and the power light is pulsing.
According to this: http://www.readynas.com/download/docume ... S-LEDA.pdf
That should mean it's booting, but the disk lights should also be blinking. Otherwise "there may be something wrong with the disks" which I'm not sure what that means... all 4 disks can't suddenly have gone bad! The othe roption according to that chart is that a volume scan is running, but if that's the case, if I remember correctly, it should show up in RAIDar.
It's also not accessible by browser.
Please advise!

- drhamadAspirantTo add to that... I just hard re-booted it again, and it actually is showing up in RAIDar, but it''s stuck on "File System Check 100%"
It''s showing 4 green drive lights and the power light is still pulsating, just like before. - drhamadAspirantOK further information:
Since it's now showing up in RAIDar I can get some further information...
Under "Volume Status" it's saying "Volume C: RAID Level X, Resync 85% complete, Time to finish 1 hr 28 min, Speed 53 MB/s, 5181 GB (93%) of 5555 GB used."
A nice, reasonable status... except it isn't changing. It's staying at 85% done. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI've found that the resync doesn't run at a constant speed - and it will sometimes appear to stall for a while. I suggest waiting some more. The data is accessible?
- drhamadAspirantNo, the data is not accessible (hence my freaking out so much). For that matter, the OS on the X6 isn't even accessible.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserOf course it should be available by now. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with an X6.
Maybe shut it down again and run diags on the drives? - drhamadAspirantYeah I mean hard-resetting it changed the "speed" at which the rescan is happening but it still stopped at 85%.
Tech support is advising me to tell it to skip the rescan but to do that I have to start it up using the regular power button... which doesn't seem to be responding (the minute I plug the X6 in it's booting, not waiting for me to push the power button). - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWell try pushing in and holding the power button starting before you connect the power.
I would suggest checking that none of the disks is failing before skipping the volume check. - drhamadAspirantBut how can I do that if it's not even booting?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredCan you power down the NAS, remove disks (label order), connect them up to a PC and check them?: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/hardware/how_can_i_verify_that_my_disk_is_bad
- drhamadAspirantOK I wasn't sure if those would work without screwing with RAID data.
Will give it a shot, thanks.
