Recommended external USB 4TB for NV+ V2 ?
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a 4TB hard drive for NV+ V2 running latest firmware?
I made the mistake of ordering this : Seagate Backup Plus 3TB Desktop External Hard Drive USB 3.0 (STCA3000101)
and I can't get it to work either FAT, EXT3 or EXT4.
Thanks,
Dave

- cinskeepAspirantSame Question. I have an older NV+ running latest firmware 4.1.13 (latest for this model) and I need to connect 4TB external USB for backups. Will this ReadyNAS even see a 4TB external Drive and format the partition? or is it limited to 2TB?
- cinskeepAspirantI found the answer to this in another post. It said that NV+ V.1 can't see ANY DRIVE OVER 2TB internal or external. So, my follow-up question is "Can I easily use the NV+ V.1 as the DESTINATION for a backup (RSYNC or other) if I just put it in an adjacent building and buy another newer ReadyNAS as the data storage unit?"
ReadyNAS NV+ has 4X2TB drives in it, in X-RAID providing 5.5TB of storage. Current Data usage is 2.5TB. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Yes. My NV+ v1 is the backup destination for several shares saved on my Pro-6 (using rsync). I have used frontview backup to copy shares from my RN102 to my Duo v1 as well (again using rsync).cinskeep wrote: ... File owner/groups might not line up properly, since OS6 uses different UID/GID ranges from the NV+. admin/admin matches, but nothing else does (including nobody/nogroup).
Also, if you go with OS6, if you make the snapshots accessible to the users you need to exclude the snapshot folder from the backup. - cinskeepAspirantIs the NV+ in a different building? I was planning on running the initial backup with them both connected to the same switch, then moving it to another building for the incremental backups later (remote RSYNC), by just changing the IP destination and port forwarding the router for RSYNC.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserMine are on different floors, but are all in my home. Perhaps more relevant - they are all on the same LAN segment, but not on the same switch.
It sounds like there's a firewall between the your two locations. Is that correct?
