RNDU2000 cant factory reset
Hi,
I recently bought a second hand READYNAS RNDU2000 FM:V4.2.19. The previous owner told me it had a corrupt root error which could be solved with a factory reset. I have placed a recently formatted (NTFS) 1TB drive in to the bay, switch it on and confirmed there was a corrupt root error.
I checked the forum and followed the suggestions for a factory reset. The unit doesnt seem to respond to the factory reset, no flashing lights etc. Now the NAS isnt even getting picked up by READYNAS RAIDar.
Can anyone please shine some light on what has happen and a possible solution?

First try powering down the NAS, removing the drive, and then power up. Then see if RAIDar can see the NAS - it should report "no disks" as the status.
While the drive is removed, unformat it. With Windows, you can do this from the windows disk manager - right-click on every "volume" on the disk, and delete it. You can also use vendor diags (seatools for Seagate, lifeguard for Western Digital) to zero the drive. That takes longer, but also serves as a good diagnostic test of the disk.
Assuming RAIDar sees the NAS with no disks: Then power down, insert the blank disk, and power up again. The NAS should do a factory install without needing to use the boot menu.
If RAIDar doesn't see the NAS with no disks: Check the ethernet LED status on the NAS. You can shift to the second ethernet port, or try another cable. If neither work, then something is wrong with the chassis.
