- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredNo. The trays for rackmount devices are not compatible with desktop devices.
You need the RNDTRAY1
What happened to your existing drive trays? Was a tray stuck and did it break when you removed it? - slayer722AspirantThanks for your quick reply,
My trays have the well know problem with the round button that get stuck, but that's not very important since i have found a great trick for that on the forum.
I want to buy an additional tray to perform supplementary backups on another hdd.
Best regards - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserJust wanted to point out that backing up by inserting a new hdd is generally not recommended here. One issue is that SATA connector on the drive is not built for repeated insertion.
Another issue is that if you pull / reinsert a drive in the raid array, the full system will resync every time. During the period, the system is not redundant.
