Service Action to Prevent PSU Failures in ReadyNAS NV/NV+
A Service Action notice has been posted in the Announcement forum to prevent ReadyNAS NV and NV+ systems from premature power supply failures at viewtopic.php?t=10259. If you own a NV or NV+ within the serial number range in the notice, please either download and install the add-on or perform the simple fan reversal procedure. We've seen a small percentage of our customers experiencing power supply failure and we want to avoid any downtime you may encounter due to an unnecessary RMA process.

- Lars1AspirantIs there a 'block' against installing the 'enableminfanrpm' update to 4.01c1-p1?
Installed twice after update to this fw and factory reset, and it does not appear in the power options.. any advice, any1 tried? - cycheng6868Aspirant

*sigh* Thought they would have taken care of this by now. I will follow up again on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday for the HQ in USA). - cycheng6868Aspirant

Hi Chirpa,
Thanks for your prompt response. If they are ready for handling the issue, please let me know. Thanks.
Best Regards,
Francis - glamAspirantI have an NV+ in the affected range.
I was running RAIDiator 3.01 at the time. I installed the EnableFanMinRPMOverride add-on and set my fan speed to 2100.
I have since upgraded to RAIDiator 4.01c1-p2. I'm wondering whether the upgrade lost the add-on - I haven't found any control for fan speed through FrontView (maybe I don't know/remember where to look).
Does RAIDiator 4.01c1-p2 fix the original problem? Or do I need to reinstall the EnableFanMinRPMOverride add-on (or the Enhance NV Thermal Characteristics add-on)? - chirpaLuminary

The Fan control would be on the FrontView>System>Power page. Are you still using the original PSU? - Lars1AspirantFIY
After updating the NV+ to RAIDiator 4.01b1-p3-T92 the enable minfan rpm option reappeared and was actually set to active - as before I updated to the latest official fw. (4.01c1-p1 atm.).
Was not active or visible with the official fw. - tried applying this fw. three times, reapplying the 'enableminfan..' plugin and even reset the unit to factory defaults without being able to see or use the fan rpm settings.
Fan was steadily 2200-2400rpm with drives(Seagate) below 42c.
Thankfully now it works, making the NV+ able to operate in a home environment with laptops without standing out as a noise-source, it also retains the fan settings after a reboot  - glamAspirant
I checked and the fan control is where it should be (and is set to 2100 RPM).chirpa wrote: glam wrote: I have an NV+ in the affected range.

I am still using the original PSU. Should I have replaced it? I don't recall a recall. :-)
I thought it was sufficient to ensure a sufficiently high fan speed, using one add-on or the other. Should I replace the PSU? - DionMAspirantDammit.
My CB has tripped twice in the last few weeks, and now my NV+ is dead. I've joined the club.
Mine was in the range of S/Nos affected.
Off to submit a support request. Let's see how good Netgear Australia are :| - DionMAspirantOkay, I'm officially surprised. Fairly painless and new PSU is on it's way (so they say!).
For those in Australia, the NV+ is considered a business product, so don't push the "home" user button.
Also, the "home" users deal with Indian-based tech support, business gets Australians. Those in Aust know what that means ...
