Ultra 2 PLUS for Squeezebox streaming
Hi
I'm looking to upgrade my Duo as it is not handling streaming very well. I understand that perhaps the RAM (or whatever the relevant specs are) is not up to the task. I need more hard drive space anyhow. Seems that the Ultra 2 Plus could be the answer.
My questions are:
1) There is a Logitech media server software ("Squeezebox") option for the Ultra, but I wanted to be sure that the "Plus" wouldn't be a problem. Am I ok?
2) Should I expect problems with streaming flac or WAV files to my Transporter with this new unit? Is it robust enough? I'm assuming that the pertinent specs are quite an upgrade over the Duo. Thoughts?
3) How would you recommend copying my music directory currently on the Duo to the new box? (as easy as copy/past??)
Appreciate any help. Many thanks.

- jh901AspirantI appreciate that and will reference in the future. For now, I'm totally confused. I had tech support help find my 'c share' (it's a little c) which is where the Music folder was hidden. I coped about 70GB from the Duo successfully and tested Logitech Media Server (LMS) on the Ultra with success. This morning, I went into Browse (via Raidar) and it wasn't showing that 'c' with my music folder. I could go into LMS and access music files and I could see in one of the Raidar set-up menus that roughly 70GB of space was used with over 1.8TB remaining. I'll call tech support again, but something isn't configured properly.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeWhile in Windows Explorer or Computer (both give similar views) in the tree on the left side of the windows, the NAS should show up under the Network heading. Clicking on the NAS name (along with the Duo name) should then show the shares. Clicking on the share name "media" will then show the first level folders.
If your shares on the Duo are showing up as drives, then that's because you mapped the share to a drive letter. I have done this on my primary NAS but not the others. It makes it easier to find the files in many Windows applications that are set up for drive letters.
If you try to access the shares and folders directly in the browser you will get a 404-file not found error. To the best of my knowledge, the only thing you can access directly is the admin (Frontview) setup by typing in "https://<ip address>/admin". - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredTo see the "C" share you have to connect as the "admin" user. When you click the browse button in RAIDar it will open up the NAS in Windows Explorer by default attempting to use the credentials you logon to Windows or the saved credentials from previously connecting to the NAS (if you told your PC to remember them).
- PapaBear1ApprenticeI had forgotten about the browse button, since I have used Windows Explorer heavily since the Windows 3.0 days when it was called File Manager. I keep an icon of Windows Explorer in the Quick Launch tray and with two clicks I have the listing of shares showing. That makes three ways you can open the list of shares and then the files within.
