- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI'm using it with a NV+ (4-bay version of Duo). It works fine. Connect the NAS's power to the UPS (you'll need to buy an adapter to be able to do this, I think) and hook up the supplied USB cable between the USB port on the UPS and one of the rear usb ports on the NAS.
Welcome to the forum! - motah33AspirantThanks for the welcome, mdgm! Thanks for the info too. The suppliers will provide the adapters to change those kettle outputs into something more useful. What I was planning to do is, as you say, is connect the USB from the UPS to the to the ReadyNAS and then connect the RS232 from the UPS to the PC in order for the control software to run. Does that sound right?
At the moment I have my trusty Belkin UPS which has been great but the battery has gone and it doesn't work with the ReadyNAS. The battery is far too expensive and I can get a reconditioned APC with a new battery for not much more.

MT - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI don't think you can monitor UPS directly using two machines at once.
However you can share it. See http://home.bott.ca - motah33AspirantOK, I've just read the doc, 'Using the ReadyNAS to create a Network UPS for PCs' from the link you gave me. Let's say the UPS is connected to the ReadyNAS and you enable the network sharing of the UPS. This would shutdown the ReadyNAS and send UPS info onto the network. Can the APC software read these messages and be configured to act accordingly? Is status information sent via these messages -it seems from the article that it does.
Thanks
