#19436397 5.3.6 ARM-Unable to use ReadyNAS remote
Hi
Duo V2
Since upgrading to 5.3.6 users have been unable to access log into the NAS via ReadyNAS remote.
I get "ReadyNAS Remote Online - Andy Asker" but it never actually connects to the server itself using "Connect to ReadyNAS"
In Radiator ReadyNAS remote is marked as "Internet Connection" and "Online".
-Checked Readynas Remote is enabled
-Removed/Readded Accounts.
-Created new ReadyNAS remote Account
-Disabled Router/OS firewall
-Reinstalled latest client
-Removed latest client 1.6.5.18, full clean up with CCleaner, reinstalled 1.6.5.18
-Tried without encryption
-Tried on Mac
-Rebooted ReadyNAS Box twice.
-Rebooted pc several times.
-FTP access working fine.
Same problem, cannot access shares. Help!
Thanks
Andy

Ha - stupid me - I didn't read "until" properly :) - I am now doing a an OS reinstall.
Just hoping it keeps all my settings :)
Think I've managed to get my Android SmartPhone to see my shares :)
So I am inching forward now.
Thanks - rozelAspirantRight then apart from not retaining my static IP address the OS reinstall was successful, retaining all my other settings :)
Furthermore I can now connect via my DeskTop, via the Remote Client app, which probably means all my other users are able to connect :)
So to recap the learns here were: -
1. If it aint broke, don't fix it. The upgrade to 5.3.6 was a nightmare and would urge other users to steer clear. Who knows if the OS Reinstall would have fixed everything for me, whilst on 5.3.6 - I am not going to try and an OS reinstall should NOT have been necessary anyhow. I think the upgrade was for Mac Users anyway - they have a lot to answer for lol
2. Upgrading the ReadyNas client software and the Android client also proved a nightmare and so on and so on.
3. Given the horrendous original configuration of this unit I endured, the hopeless disk spin down and power off options with a load of other issues - if I had known that I would be put through all of this then I would NOT have bought this thing :(
Thanks to those people who had an input to this nightmare, it was most appreciated. - CrontonsAspirantSo I'm massively frustrated and cannot seem to get ReadyNAS Remote working as well. The other very frustrating part is that all of the official support documentation I am finding is dated a couple years old, there is nothing explaining how to set up Remote on Raidiator 5.3.6. Very frustrating.
So I have a brand new ReadyNAS Duo v2. I have updated the firmware to 5.3.6. I have rebooted several times, but all that happens when I enable remote is the Internet Connection turns green and there is a red X to the right and says "Not Ready" There is a question mark if i mouse over it says "Could not attach device. Contact support." Umm thanks. An explanation would have been helpful, or at least some set up documentation somewhere would be helpful too. I cannot find anything.
Can anyone please help?
Thanks! - rozelAspirantI am with you regarding your frustration here :(
I assume you have setup your Duo V2 in so much as you can see it and its shares within your home network?
If not then that is the first place to start - I gave mine a static IP address to make things simpler when logging in from your browser. Radiator only really tells you what is happening during the boot process - when radiator sees your Duo, then Setup will appear in bold (rather than greyed out) and pressing this should then open your browser revealing the Duo's Dashboard, from which you then can configure your Duo.
Once you have configured it, switch on Remote. Then you need to install the ReadyNas Remote client software on your devices. Lets say you want to be able to login via your spare laptop. Install the correct software and upon it's first useage you will need to create an account. Setup a share within the security section of dashboard enabling FTP and HTTP DNLA etc etc and give it the same credentials. You must then "Allow" the user from within the Duo's Remote section and then on your laptop login with these credentials (the same as on the Duo and for the account you created) and you should then be able to see a ReadyNas Shares folder within My Computer, Windows Explorer or whatever. This will reveal an icon named the same as your Duo then double-clicking that will get you into your shares.
Persevere my friend and you will get there - one day NetGear will produce an easy to setup device but I'm afraid it will not be in my life time :( That said they make very durable products which last and last and once setup, should prove work-horses.
Good luck :) - NiteCourtAspirantI'm a new ReadyNAS NV+ v2 owner and on setup I was told there was a new firmware 5.3.6 and to upgrade. I did and for the past two days I could not get remote working. I did the port forwarding, OS reinstall, turning service off and on, and none of them worked. The ONLY way I got it to work was downgrade the firmware to 5.3.5 After I did that I went to the addons and installed remote and VOILA! remote was working on all my client devices! I hope this help someone else. I can live without the readydrop or whatever it's called since remote wouldn't even work. No remote, no readydrop. Hope this helps some else after wasting hours of time.

i can just set i to on but not create a user - OOM-9NETGEAR ExpertCan you try to install the ReadyNAS Replicate addon from the Genie store?
There is an updated tunnel in that package that is able to help the Remote connection.
