ReadyNAS Photos troubleshooting tips
If you're having problems getting ReadyNAS Photos to work, see if any of the following tips will help.
1. If you are in User or Domain security mode, and you don't have "public" or "guest" access enabled for the [media] share, you will need to specify a login and password to connect from the ReadyNAS Photos desktop software. The login and password should be what you would normally use to connect to the [media] share.
2. If you are in Share security mode, and you have a password set for the [media] share, when connecting from the ReadyNAS Photos desktop software, leave the login field blank, and enter the share password.
3. If you are in User or Domain security mode, and you are an account on the ReadyNAS with the same user name but a different password as what you are using on your PC, you will need to change the password to be the same.
4. Make sure [media] share has read/write privileges over CIFS.
5. If you have installed a pre-release version of RAIDiator that had ReadyNAS Photos support (shame on you since we never really released it ;-) ), and you're having problems with the READYNASPHOTOS database, you will need to remove the ReadyNAS Photos add-on, and re-install the add-on from here.

- ablevyAspirantI first tried to connect as my wife via readyNas photos. She has the same access to the media share. I then tried to connect as me, but I guess I blew it because I was logged onto the computer as my wife.

finally making some progress with ReadyNas Photos (for my Duo):
some general overall questions:
1) do I need to setup my backup scripts to backup all my photos to the media/Pictures/usrname in order to make use of RNPhotos?
2) will the RNPhoto setup be faster if I resize the photos ahead of time? if so, what are the max parameters to streamline this whole process?
3) are the photos in media/Pictures/usrname modified in any way when RNPhotos processes, or are the processed photos kept elsewhere?
Any info would be appreciated.... - k_3poAspirant

If the original photos are not in media/Pictures, ReadyNAS Photos will make a copy of the pictures in media/Pictures/username directory. Changing your backup scripts to backup in media/Pictures (no need of username) would eliminate this duplication.new2nas wrote:

Could elaborate what you mean by "RNPhoto setup"? Is it installing the software or importing the pictures? Which directory are you importing the pictures from right now: from a directory on the NAS or the one on PC?new2nas wrote:

The photos in media/Pictures/username are same as the original pictures, they are not modified in terms of quality or size. However, if these files are writable (which they are by default), then when you set the title or description on the photos, the IPTC block in the file is updated with the new title/desc. Saving the IPTC title/desc in the file means that you do not need to set the title/desc again when you use other IPTC aware s/w like picasa or upload to flickr. - grumqyguyAspirantHi guys
I have installed the latest readynasphotos on my pc, set my username and passwords on both pc and nas to be the same, which authenticates the username fine, but i get the following
Could not connect to READYNASPHOTOS database on 10.2.0.6
Access denied for user 'dekoh'@'10.2.0.3' (using password: YES)
Any help would be gratefully accepted, as I really want this set up
Thanks

- Jimmy11AspirantSystem Error 1219 - Photos Logon Error
Hi, Thank you for this forum. I have been enjoying my ReadyNAS Photo Add-in, but have managed to mess it up so that I can not login to the NAS using the ‘Connect to ReadyNAS’ form. Here’s the error message…
“Unable to connect to ReadyNAS Photos share on 192.168.0.79
share=[hostname=192.168.0.79, share=Dekoh$, username=admin], exit code=[2], error=[System error 1219 has occurred. Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again.. ]”
I have been loging into the Photo Add-in with the NAS admin username and password. The login appears to varify. Then the error message appears.
The ‘media share’ has read/write default access, and allow guest access is checked. Prior to this, I accidently removed the add-in from the front-view, by pressing the remove button instead of unchecking it. I have successfully re-installed the add-in and the software. I am currently, using XP and version 4.1.4 of the NAS firmware.
Thank you for supporting this great program. Any help would be appreciated. - minervaAspirantCan you try restarting the ReadyNAS Photos Desktop software ? You can stop the ReadyNAS Photos desktop program by right clicking on the system tray icons and choosing Exit option.
- Jimmy11AspirantMinerva, thank you for your help. I followed your suggestion and restarted the application. Unfortunately, no luck. Just the same error. I shutdown and restarted the NAS also with no luck. Could it be a version related issue? I am running running Radiator 4.1.4, but am unsure of Photos version (couldn't find out what the verion is).
Anything other suggestions would be greatly welcome. Thanks again.
