6.2.0 and antivirus updates
Since installing 6.2.0 36 hours ago virus definitions have failed to update with the error:
System: Antivirus scanner definition file update failed due to downloading fail. Please check internet connection.
However the connection at this end is fine. (LAN access to NAS OK and internet OK).
Any sugestions? The additional AVPLUS addon is installed BTW.

- RXLuminaryHi,
I just want to check if have you tried to disable then re-enable the real-time antivirus scanning on System > Settings > Services on the NAS web-GUI? Ixa wrote: Hi,

Yes, I did this earlier today and it tried and failed again immediately after re-enabling. I notice the 'check now' button is greyed out in AVplus.- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredDo email alerts still work fine?
Have you checked the DNS settings? mdgm wrote: Do email alerts still work fine?
Have you checked the DNS settings?
'Router' field was wrong - somehow the upgade set this to the NAS IP. Now working OK.- peterkinGuideThis seems to be quite common - I had the same issue with one out of the two RN102s I've upgraded. It seems to be an issue with DHCP, as the static-addressed one had no issues while the other, on DHCP, had a problem.
- jbee52AspirantHi. Having same issue with an RN10200 - upgraded to OS 6.2 (eventually successfully!), Inet connection OK, email alerts working, LAN working but since OS upgrade antivirus update keeps failing. Tried dis & re-enabling real time antivirus scanning - no effect. Where do I find the DNS settings / 'router' field referenced above? Are these the ones listed under NAS GUI > Network > Settings > DNS? (currently listing WAN Primary & Secondary IPs)
- DanthemNETGEAR Employee RetiredHi jbee52,
Indeed, please check your settings under NAS GUI > Network > Settings > DNS.. Please add 8.8.8.8 to the list as well to be have one entry that is pretty much guaranteed to work.
Another thing I noticed is that ReadyNAS Remote proxy settings seems to take control over certain things on the ReadyNAS so go to the cloud tab and click the settings for ReadyNAS Remote, make sure you don't have any proxy settings.
If it still does not work, you may want to contact support. - jbee52AspirantHi Danthem,
I went into those DNS settings, which looked good but just for the crack selected & Apply'ed one of the DNS listed and for some obscure reason the antivirus is now working! I'll add 8.8.8.8 to list & check the cloud settings tho. just to be sure - many thanks for info. - jangolotiApprentice
Had the same issue with RN2120 on 6.4.0.
The solution above works, but I never had to insert a DNS server while I was on DHCP-supplied adresses.
