Bad Drive Replaced, Not Resyncing
I have a four drive ReadyNAS in a RAID5 array. I replaced a failing hard drive this morning but the array is not resyncing. It's using xraid and firmware 6.1.9, drives 1,3, & 4 are blue and drive 2 (new one) is gray. I don't know what other information would be useful, but if anyone has a suggestion, I'll try it. Thanks.

What model drive did you remove (and what model was the replacement)?
FWIW, 6.1.9 is very old. After you get past this you should upgrade it. However, don't mess with that now.

What model Readynas is this?
Did you have the nas on when you removed the old drive and inserted the new drive?
Was the new drive tested before you put it in?
Do you have a backup?

Similar situation
RN2120 - 4 Drives - 4TB each (same make/model)
Firmware - 6.2.4
RAID5
Drive 1 went bad and got a RMA replacement, same make/model.
Tech installed the new drive on Friday (Sept 04) and today (Tues 09-08) it still shows as RED. Log file does not show any info that it even attempted to resynch.
Had tech remove new drive 1 and re-seat it again. status has not changed.
According to this procedure http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23456 - RN2120 is completely hot swappable and does not require any input from the user or reboot.
Please advise.
