Can Not update Alert email password - Frontview
For ReadyNas Duo v1, Raidar 4.1.12: When using Frontview/System/Alerts/Contacts, I can not update the password for my Gmail account, and can not send a text message. Using stmp.gmail.com, stmp port 587. I get the twirling blue circle, but nothing ever updates. I need to terminate the web page with task manager. Running WinXP SP3 on a wired 1000G network. Happens even when no firewall running. Anyone having the same issue or have a solution?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat web browser and version are you using? Have you tried a different web browser?
- pfishwackerAspirantTried both IE and Firefox. This was working until my router died and I had to replace it. The IP address of the Netgear Duo changed in the system, but I could still initiate Frontview. This morning I can't get Frontview to load. IE message is "There was a problem sending the command to the program." I do have a WD 1T USB connected backup unit running a backup, but that also seems to be stuck. I think this unit is getting disk dementia.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWas the NAS using a static address?
- pfishwackerAspirantIt was a static address, but changed that to a "virtual" address (e.g. from "192.168.0.xxx" to "home network_nas") in winxp sp3 well before the router failure. Reason was that each time the power failed and the router rebooted, the NAS got a new IP address. Not so "static" when the power went out. But the browsers can't connect using the current device IP address. In any event it was working - somewhat - yesterday. At least Frontview would load. Today, not so much. Now I can't even get to Frontview.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWhat IP address is raidar reporting? Is it in the same address range as the new router?
- pfishwackerAspirantThe IP address is the same. I can access the admin menu but can not send an email. The router is a D-link DIR-826L. I reset the router, and that gave me access to the Duo. But still can not send an email. I'm wondering if the problem is with the router and not the Duo. I use gmail as my smtp.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI receive gmail alerts from my duo v1.
The default options for the gmail email provider pulldown work (smtp.gmail.com, port 587, use TLS). Note the spelling of smtp.
I have my gmail user name (w/o the @gmail.com) set under advanced options.
If you can send gmail from your home PC then this would not be a router problem. It does require that the gateway and DNS servers be properly set on the NAS IP configuratoin. Are you using DHCP or a static address? - pfishwackerAspirantUsing DHCP. I was getting e-mail messages from the duo (using the Frontview default gmail selection with the parameters you listed) until my old router Time Warner modem failed. Since replacing them I have stopped getting messages. My home network works fine in all other respects. I don't know enough about how the Duo obtains its IP address to determine if this is an addressing problem in the Duo or in the router, or something else.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserMaybe post the IP address and subnet mask, along with the IP address and subnet mask of your PC.
- pfishwackerAspirantRouter 192.168.0.1 subnet 255.255.255.0
PC 192.168.0.103 subnet 255.255.255.0
duo 192.168.0.106 subnet 255.255.255.0
