Cannot connect to RAIDar to set up device (network problem I think)? #26471247
Please help, I have spent an hour hanging on the phone to Netgear who were not helpful!
After turning on my Netgear only had blue flashing light, disc 1 was faulty as it was flashing so have put a new disc in.
It copied over from disc 2 OK, however After numerous attempts of rebooting I now have blue light fixed and now have two green lights, I linked NAS to router but couldn't display RAIDar information screen so I have had to link direct from laptop to NAS with Lan cable to get RAIDar displaying on laptop, all lights on Raidar are green, however when I select setup I get the message:
The NAS device you selected is on a different subnet. To access this device change your IP address to 192.168.168.x, click rescan and try again.
I did change the laptop network settings to static IP but when I pressed set up it did connect to browser but couldn't open page.
I think data is ok on both discs but cannot access the RAIDar, have looked for help on this site and rang Netgear who were basically useless, I will not be buying this make again.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks
Gary

Hi 61gazza,
Welcome to the community!
Your ReadyNAS is not obtaining an IP address from your router (network). Try to use another port or cable and see if that helps. With regard to accessing the device via its default IP address of 192.168.168.168, you need to set a static IP and subnet mask in your PCs NIC or LAN.
Eg. IP Address: 192.168.168.167
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Once applied, open up a web browser and access https://192.168.168.168/admin
Let me know if you have other question.
Kind regards,

Hi Brian
thanks for quick reply
I did change the IP address to static before, so I changed it to what you suggested.
when I entered the http://192.168.168.168/admin I got the message
the connection has timed out
server 192.168.168.168 is taking too long to respond
not sure what to do now, I have been trying to sort this for three nights now, stressed out!
thanks
regards
gary

Hi 61gazza,
That seems odd. Can you check if you can access the data?
Kind regards,
