Connection refused - rsync from BackupAssist

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I read the article you mention before I posted, but as I understand it, the two described scenarios are both 'controlled' by the ReadyNAS box.

In my case the backup process is controlled by the BackupAssist application (from a windows server), and the ReadyNAS box is just supposed to accept the connection, provide the rsync service and receive the files.

So I need ReadyNAS to act as a server which only accepts rsync connections from other (BackupAssist) hosts. In BackupAssist I can enter a username / password to access the rsync server. Should it be possible to connect using this user credentials when I connect, or do I need a key file? If the latter is the case, I assume that it should be created at the BackupAssist server?
