Duo - dead, no lights or fans
Hi everyone.
Hope you can help.
I left my Duo while i was copying a Bluray rip to it over my network and came back to find it switched off.
Trying to now power on the Duo and nothing happens. Press the power button and there is no lights or fans, its dead. I've tried holding it for about 5 seconds as well with no change.
Tried the main plug in another known working socket and nothing also tried waggling the power connector in the NAS as i've read some are a faulty or a bad fit but no difference.
I bought it (Netgear RND2000-100UKS) about 5 months ago from Scan.co.uk and its running 2 x 2TB Seagate drives (ST2000DL003).
Its running Radiator 4.1.7.
Does this sound like its dead completely or is there anything else to try before i RMA it?
I've not had a problem with it before and its been on the entire 5 months.
Thanks for any help.

- ducksonGuideNobody heard of this before?
Are the power supplies in the Duo likely to fail or is this not really heard of?
Assuming i get it exchanged for a new Duo i assume i should follow the guide here:- http://www.rnasguide.com/2011/03/26/migrating-your-disks-from-one-readynas-to-another-readynas-on-the-same-platform/
Particularly following the "If the source ReadyNAS is not in a working condition:" and using my spare 500Gb SATA drive to make sure the Duo is at 4.1.7 as my 2 x 2Tb drives are and then swapping in these drives? - ducksonGuideHmm well i phoned Tech support and while on the phone i realised the power adapter has an LED to show power and mine wasnt lit when plugged in. Tried another lead and still the same so it must be the brick.
I didnt check this before as i didnt think of it.
Tech support are inquiring whether they can send me a replacement power adapter instead of me changing the NAS as well....i wont be doing the latter just for the adapter and have to mess about getting the NAS into the right state (firmware 4.1.7) to get my HDD's back into it without wiping them!
This might do... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-DVE-DSA-60W-12-1-12060-replacement-power-supply-/200681010590?pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item2eb985359e#ht_1547wt_1139 - PapaBear1ApprenticeIf it is the brick, let Netgear send you a replacement. I would absolutely not go with a third party in this situation. The plug might not fit for one thing, and the wattage may not be correct (check the stats on the bottom of yours).
- ducksonGuideWell a new power adapter (brick) is being shipped to me so hopefully that will be it. Fingers crossed.
- ducksonGuideJust thought i'd update that the new power adapter/brick did the job, NAS back up and running after a resync.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeThanks for the update.
